Kaako is right now arguably the worst player in the NHL . He’s only 19 and still developing but once again look At Zib he didn’t become an impact player until what 24-25 . Kaako doesn’t skate well , doesn’t hit , doesn’t defend , and has a shot like a muffin . How is he overtaking Kreider . He may very well become a great player but right now he has a whole lot of holes in his game at the NHL level . By 22 -23 I hope he’s a diff player but he doesn’t have any explosiveness to his skating and besides being decent on the pp half wall in kit seeing an elite player in the least . He does not do anything at an elite level . Ck has elite skating speed , can hit , defend , and is the best at tipping pucks in the league. He sets the bar on this team .KK AND KRAVSTOV are not the players to make this team reach the next level . I don’t see a whole lot in Kravstov Game scoring at a .25 pts a game pace in the AHL .

I can't help but feel that it's deliberately putting down KK and Kravtsov because you are so emotionally addicted to Kreider that you can't let go. I mean, how else to explain that take?

Kakko and Kravtsov aren't our future! That's why we need to keep Kreider!

Well, considering that would be the only justification, I guess I can see why he connected those dots, but..... yikes, no way. Kreider as our cornerstone has already been given a half decade chance. It's over. He either takes a back seat here as a supplemental player (with a salary to match) to our new stars, or he should be traded for max return right now.

Or maybe in an ideal world he's traded now and then also returns over the summer for a supplemental role.

I agree that they should sell high on Kreider. That’s not a contract I want any part of.

With that said, I just don’t think it’s a slam dunk that all these prospects are becoming better than Kreider. Prospects come and go... I can’t tell you how many players I’ve seen penciled into line ups that never pan out. Don’t get me wrong - I’m hopeful, but saying Kravtsov is destined for 50-60 points does not just make it so.

the deadspace issue is for the year after when they would be off the books and we are carrying forward a penalty. But for next year the 'dead space' is a savings not a penalty cause hank & staal are on the team for 100% of their salary. I don't think either is getting bought out but a $5.5 mil cap hit for hank vs 8.5 mil cap hit for him to be the 3rd goalie is a $3 mil savings, not a $5.5 mil hit.

Statistically yes he’s one of the worst as far as his possession stats and plus minus . Look he very well may be a very very good hockey player but I don’t see him being more impactful or important than CK in the near future . Same goes for VK , as a Na / NHL Player hes a long way off . Christ most nights the only thing people positive they say about him at the NHL level is that he Nancy checks a little . Wow great !!! he’s not lighting up the AHL at all and is no where near or deserving of an NHL CALL up . HF boards where magic beans and potential and draft picks mean more than players who are actual first line , play driving players .

KK is in the league force fed minutes because of draft position . They are handling him with kid gloves . I see potential but not a super star and at this moment not a player that’s anywhere near replacing CK’s minutes or stats . Bk After his quitter act and lackluster AHL season thus far to me looks like another Gordie Clark reach / swing and miss . I don’t see an explosive stride or a player that’s going to be a super star . He has nice hands and vision but what the NYR neeed is players that drive possession and play and impact their will on the opposition . These two euro tournament players dont pass the eye test at this point . I hope I’m wrong but they have a long way to go to being half the player Kreider is at the NHL level . So I guess if perpetual rebuild is your bent you hitch your wagon to “ maybe “ players and don’t find a way to sign real NHL stars .

montreal loves drouin. He’s been very good for them don’t see them trading him at all.

As much as I would like to trade Skjei, I don't see it happening any time soon.

Neither Rykov nor Hajek are at the point where they can force out the guy playing the 2nd most minutes per game on defense for this club. Miller is still a huge question mark, and Staal is gonna be gone soon.

Russo has his own podcast and Kenny Albert was his guest. Russo said he has feeling Greenway at one point with wind up on the Rangers because of Quinn. Russo didn't realize the Rangers are carrying three goaltenders.

On the Russo-Souhan podcast, Russo thinks the Wild will look for sign a free agent goaltender this summer.

Please tell me what you see in our two top prospects ? I don’t see first line star in either one . Kaako skating and shot are very very average . The only thing I see is a big frame which he doesn’t appear to use to check and good hands which he can’t create separation because of his average speed . As for VK please tell me besides draft position do you see him having as “ elite “ or star quality attributes . I’m waiting

I'm more worried about the years for Kreider.

Its almost always about the years.

If Kreider is overpaid, it will be by ~ 1-1.5M which shouldn't be an issue. If it is, then there are other problems that need to be addressed.

I think we should stay away from 7 years regardless.
6 is kinda scary too, but could be workable with a lower salary.

I would do 5 years x 7M tomorrow.

the final year of that contract, he is 33, turning 34 at the end of the year.

Even 4/30 seems reasonable. It’s term that frightens me. But I’m sure the team can make a couple million extra/year over four years work.
