If the lowest Kreider will accept is 7x7 (likely with some sort of NMC), do you...

  • Trade him

  • Sign him

  • Rent him for the playoffs and let him walk as a UFA

Not sure why Minnesota is trading for Georgiev. I know Dubnyk has had a down year, but both their goalies are under contract for next season. Stalock can probably be moved, but having a solid goalie on his uber cheap deal is probably ideal for a team that has some other big time cap hits.

Carp complaining on twitter about people not considering him an "insider" is peak old man

I read his trade deadline primer article this morning on the Athletic, laziest article of his I've read in a while. Half of it is just citing other Athletic writers

it was really bad

I was saying this last week. I don’t understand why they haven’t done it. They’d be in the playoffs right now.

Because the Wild can't move Dubnyk or Stalock. Kahkonen should be up sooner than later. They also have Robison in the minors, who is no slouch. Not to mention Hunter Jones, one of the top goaltending prospects for Canada (he's played 41 games and has a .10 sv% better than the guy playing 46 and .07 sv% better than the guy playing 42. He's doing really, really good) and a big darkhorse in Filip Lindberg.

Well, players actually WANT to sign with the Rangers. No one - no one - wants to play for the Knicks. Not comparable.

thats because the rangers have been good and have a competent front office. the knicks have been awful for almost 30 years and are run by a bunch of buffoons...the knicks want to sign free agents to make themselves good, but thats backwards you need to be good for players to want to sign with you.

that’s b/c Dolan doesn’t care about hockey. :towel:

From everything we've heard, he cares about the Rangers, it's just that he knows absolutely nothing about hockey and knows such.

With the Knicks he thinks he knows enough, but really knows nothing. Big difference.

Brady Skjei for Jonathan Drouin.

MTL only has 4 defenders under contract next year, including Weber. They have Poehling, Kotkaniemi, Caufield coming up.

Rangers (if they lose kreider and any of Fast/Buch/Strome) will need some production up front. Drouin has 1 less year under contract than Brady but their cap hits are similar.

Thoughts?

How’ve much dead cap space if both Hank and Staal get bought out ?

I know it’s crazy to fathom but it may happen w Hank

Stop, he never even attends Ranger games while you see him often at Knick games.

I’ve actually been fortunate enough to attend games with Dolan and be in his suite on multiple occasions. I can tell you he can spend no more than 15 20 mins at a time watching the team. He parties down in the suite and or chats up super model guests celebs most of the time. I don’t think he’s a big hockey guy at all. But he’s proud of the Way the team runs. That he’s always been very vocal about.

As a season ticket holder, they don't make mention of him and the fans leave him alone at Rangers games, but he is there and he has his seats. I've personally seen him from my seats on the bridge.

Will he attend more Knicks games than Rangers games? Yes, but don't be fooled by his coverage in NBA circles and the lack of coverage in NHL circles.

Buying out Henrik Lundqvist just sounds so icky. I get that it's a business, but if I saw another franchise do that with one of their all-time players, I would definitely make fun of them.

So the Ducks with Corey Perry just this last offseason?

I wouldn't buy him out though.

you’re looking at approx $5.655 each of the next two years (Staal’s number spread for 2 years and 2/3rd of Hanks based on his age)

yet the Rangers dead money for a big Shattenkirk hit is over $7 million. So that’s at least $12.655 for next season

You make your top-6 work with the best talent. Kakko can play left wing. Chytil can play wing.

I mean, I've already explained it, but again, I see the following players as better than Kreider in 2-3 years:

Panarin
Zibanejad
Kakko
Kravtsov
Chytil
Our first round pick this year (hopefully and likely)
Buchnevich if he's not traded also possible
Any other free agent that might be better and available

.

Oh my god, no! That's not what you do. The quickest way to ruin a young player is playing them out of position. Mika is a C, he's not a wing. Panarin is a LW, he's not a C. Fox is their most talented defender, wanna give him a whirl as a wing?

And you think Buch, Kravstsov and our first round pick in a few months will be better than one of the premier, fastest skating, power forwards in the league in two years?? Good lord, man.

+1

The guy doesn’t know the recipe for ice

That is really a shot that hank isn’t playing tonight. I don’t even know what to make of it.

Had a feeling with the ankle that with 2 games Shesterkin would sit tonight with tomorrow being the division game. I bet he’s back in for it.

something very weird going on with hank right now

Yeah, I hate putting the tinfoil hat on but something is going down. And I doubt this is all Quinn's doing. These orders are coming from the top.

Minny could use a goalie (though Kahkonen has been doing well for them). Russo mentioned yesterday on his podcast that the Rangers want Greenway and he's the most likely of their younger guys to be dealt.
But, but, but there was that Wild fan who came over here telling us there is no way were getting our hands on Greenway...

Well if that's your opinion then I can see why you'd want to keep Kreider, but I do not share it remotely. I think KK overtakes Kreider possibly by next year and certainly the year after, and I think Kravtsov isn't far behind.
Kaako is right now arguably the worst player in the NHL . He’s only 19 and still developing but once again look At Zib he didn’t become an impact player until what 24-25 . Kaako doesn’t skate well , doesn’t hit , doesn’t defend , and has a shot like a muffin . How is he overtaking Kreider . He may very well become a great player but right now he has a whole lot of holes in his game at the NHL level . By 22 -23 I hope he’s a diff player but he doesn’t have any explosiveness to his skating and besides being decent on the pp half wall in kit seeing an elite player in the least . He does not do anything at an elite level . Ck has elite skating speed , can hit , defend , and is the best at tipping pucks in the league. He sets the bar on this team .KK AND KRAVSTOV are not the players to make this team reach the next level . I don’t see a whole lot in Kravstov Game scoring at a .25 pts a game pace in the AHL .

16.5 million dead space cap hit next year if both are bought out

Not sure about that. I got below. Did you add the numbers together for one year?
