If the lowest Kreider will accept is 7x7 (likely with some sort of NMC), do you...

  • Trade him

  • Sign him

  • Rent him for the playoffs and let him walk as a UFA

Kreider will be a stud throughout his contract.
That late draftpick will turn out to be a stud.

What has a better chance of happening? Some people are convinced that Kreider will be washed up, but sound confident we will find a stud.

He hasnt been a stud until the last month so thinking he is gonna keep playing like this for 7 years is pretty unlikely. He's a year to year 50 point guy, sadly we are used to mediocrity here as the last while our top players got 50.

Who is saying we will get a stud with the late 1st?

It's a very strong draft, if we end up with a 2nd liner that from that pick that would be the jackpot(along with the good prospect we acquire who hopefully turns the same).

Or we use that late pick to move up in the draft. Nobody is saying we will get the next Wayne Gretzky with that late 1st.

What good is a Kreider tied up for 7 years when he is declining during our peak years? How fast people forget how inconsistent this guy has been his entire career with us aside from the last 2 months during his contact year

Everyone was fired up and trading him at the first of the year, how quickly they forget.

Why are these the only 2 options?

How about the Rangers trade the pick they get from Kreider+some of their other assets for a younger, cost controlled player?

We would get the draft pick for 3 years on an ELC, four more 4 RFA years and first shot at negotiating the UFA years. We would get Kreider at stud money for a period of time that he may or may not be a stud.
You're proving my point. Statistically, the draft pick will not be a NHL player yet we're locking him in already. I know we've had recent success but even the best, miss more than they hit.

We dont need ammo. We have enough. We do not have Kreider-types in supply though.

If we're talking about a Lemieux type player? Do we need to give up Kreider for that?

If we're talking about a cost-controlled top6 player, it will take A LOT more than what Kreider would net us in return.

Yep, same with 7 year deals covering players 30s. The difference is we're locking that one in at UFA price.

? He's been playing well since late November/early December.

It'd be a mistake if this team does not sign Kreider.

I'm sure his camp is asking for 7 years. It does not mean he'll get 7 years.... unless he wants to be an Islander.

6x7 is fair on both sides

Wings fans apparently don't know what they have in Patrik NEMETH and would gladly trade him for a 3rd.

Signed for one more year at $3M and is one of the best defencemen in the league at limiting chances around the net. Great way to put Staal out to pasture and could even allow us to trade Skjei without gutting our LD corps.

Get on it Gorts.

I remember these exact words being said about Brendan Smith.

Pretty much. I'd say Nemeth is a nice 3rd pairing guy, but with our cap next season, not sure we can have that kind of hit on our 3rd pairing.

Much rather just let Lindgren or another ELC slot there and grow. Staal (unless an unforeseen buyout is done) will be around for 3rd pairing assignments, unless they actually sit him.

We have enough internal options that could fill that spot and grow vs a veteran that is what he is.

Here's the thing. I don't want to trade Kreider and part of me will be sad when he is traded. Probably more than any other Ranger in the past few years. I want to see him stay with the Rangers. I just don't want to give him 7x7.

I have to imagine that if Kreider was willing to accept $6 million a season that he already would have been signed.

Yes we do.

And to your last point, I said Kreiders return (the pick at least) PLUS some other assets that we have. They can't all play and they should be aggressive on the trade market. See: Trouba Trade.

The two areas they need to cover most are LHD and the bottom 6.

Trade Kreider at the deadline and offer him a lowball offer on July 1st on the off chance he gets homesick. Don't expect him to take it, and plan accordingly.

Re-sign DeAngelo, either long term or to a two-year RFA bridge that keeps him RFA at 26. trade Georgiev, weigh your options with Strome. Ride out the Staal and Smith contracts. Keep Buchnevich for the time being.

Make Zibanejad the captain.

I have absolutely no idea what they should do with Jesper Fast.

Resign him if hes open to 3 or less years and less than $3MM AAV.

and if the Rangers move Kreider and end up outside a top 6-8 talent in the draft means the existing parts were interchangeable (or they were very unlucky in the lottery)

it’s tough for fans to replace the closest thing we had to Norris trophy winner when Captain McD was moved only years after we couldn’t possibly move another Captain and “heart of the team” Callahan. Then we couldn’t move our next heart in Zuccarello and there is a sentimental value to keeping Hank as long as he likes. Now we’re onto Kreider.

I’m thankful for a rebuild rather an all out desperation mode to “win one Cup for Hank”

One more deadline sell off
Precisely. Unless Hank waives which would reset the rebuild to beyond ridiculous speed.

Can’t wait to get the next lias Jessiman Mcilrathsov and a b prospect for Kreider who’ll score 25 plus goals and provide playoff production and leadership for the rest of his career . Maybe we’ll get some magic beans As a throw in
