I really would prefer to go the dvorak route at this point if eichel isnt happening. I am really not wanting to invest the money and term in danault, but if everyone around the league is placing huge value on centers in trades than we may have no option but to sign danault if they want to make a significant change at center for next year. I just cant see anyway that they come back with the three of zib/strome/chytil

I would be on board with Dvorak. If he adds 15 points he’s a two way complete 2C signed at the same hit Strome was for what 3 or 4 years? There’s upside there, but there’s also upside in Chytil (offensively for sure)

Buffalo is handling the Eichel situation correctly. If someone doesn’t overwhelm them with a deal they have no reason to trade him. Is he going to hold out for five years and ruin his career if they refuse to trade him?

is he injured requiring surgery or he is trying to force his way out of Buffalo?

Would he nice to know.

What’s the play? Hangout and nothing changes?

Would it really be the worst idea to call chara Krejci and Halak and ask them if they want to come to New York for one last hurrah together? 1 or 2 years each?

why? Pay them to be Rangers so kids get less ice time and they leave?

What’s the point?

Hey quick question for Eichel lovers or haters. Would you guys prefer Eichel and his 10 million and possible neck issues or could just be not true.

Or sign Danault and trade for Gourde for about the same cap hit? Could Gourde be had and a veteran defenseman for chytll, Jones and Strome? You can play with that etc.

I am team Eichel but presented with this I'd go this route for these reasons:

-Gallant could definitely roll out 4 very good lines.

- if Danualt struggles offensively or Gourde does you can swap them bk and forth as they go.

-grit is now really nice and guys that can play a two way game without core being uprooted.

- core remains in tact

- do we have room to sign a Blake Coleman with these additions? If not all good but would be great.

- the experience gained another cup winner and has familiarity with Goodrow obviously as well if we signed Coleman. Danault playoff experience deep run to finals.

-Team would be all set with our assets not totally destroyed.

In all honesty I'm getting Greedy with Coleman so more than likely that would be Blais spot but that said those two centers for about the same cap it as Eichel. It's nice and the lineup becomes so interchangeable lots of flexibility.

This seems realistic to me and not just EA sports NHL fake trades seems plausible.

which kid would be getting less ice time? We need a 2C to replace Strome. We need a 6th dman to play with Lundkvist and we need to blow out Georgiev for a veteran back up. None of these things are news to you right?

Out of anything we can do the boomer contracts have the least risk. Danault for example can easily be another Kreider contract, where you get a good player but far from a difference-maker, and it kills the flexibility under the cap

I really don’t think Krejci will leave Boston but that might be a perfect stop gap 2C for 2 years. Gives time for Chytil and also allows us time to find another one when closer to a cup

Danault would be a problem imo. We don’t have the cap space to pay a defensive specialist like a scoring forward. Yes, his even strength scoring in the regular season is fine. In the playoffs, which we’re building for, he led him team in TOI and was last in points. He cannot score in those types of games but he’ll be paid to

The Rangers have two logical paths to trade and replace Strome; trade for a center (Dvorak or Kadri make the most sense) or sign Danault. If Strome could bring back that coveted left defenseman on a short commitment one of these things will likely happen.

Elliotte said Danault to the Kings is a possibility. He said Columbus last week.

Danault is looking for something like $6M per. The Rangers have $6M for a checking center?

I would much prefer the depth to Eichel, particularly if we’re keeping Z. It’s a no brainer for me.

Was away in the woods all weekend mostly so catching up on the Eichel stuff now. Doesn’t look like there’s gonna be a deal there obviously but who the hell knows at this point. Rangers might want to see how FA shakes out for them and other teams.

No, we didn’t see Jack Eichel move. Not yet. Those talks will continue, but Buffalo is holding firm on their asking price. The Sabres want at least four pieces for Eichel. That hasn’t changed. And a 2022 first-round pick is something they covet in a package that includes at least one top prospect and two young, NHL-proven players.

I think Calgary, Los Angeles, Anaheim and Vegas have continued to go back and forth. I’m not convinced the New York Rangers are paying the price, and I don’t think Minnesota wants to, either. Florida and Boston poked around, along with other teams.

Sweeney’s immediate focus now shifts to David Krejci, who is an unrestricted free agent and reportedly facing a decision about whether to re-sign with the Bruins or return to his native Czech Republic to finish out his playing career at home.
