Buffalo is handling the Eichel situation correctly. If someone doesn’t overwhelm them with a deal they have no reason to trade him. Is he going to hold out for five years and ruin his career if they refuse to trade him?
That $21M will be gone in a snap.So after Buch we have 21 million in cap space. Is it possible Drury wanted to show the Pegulas that it doesn't have to be a dollar for dollar trade. The Rangers will take Eichel and the Sabres can get the cash benefits along with a fair package.
Good. I hope this holds.Elliotte Friedman said the Rangers and Sabres aren't on the same page/not close at all in evaluating the Eichel return. The Rangers haven't really been in on Eichel for last 1-2 weeks. The Rangers haven't been the stealth team. The Sabres want Schneider or Lundqvist and the Rangers don't want to go there. The Sabres want some of the Rangers top young roster players. The Rangers aren't going there. If you were putting a Venn diagram together of the request and what the Rangers are willing to give up. There is no intersection of the middle. The Sabres get annoyed when people say the ask is high.

3.5M raise for Zibs
8M raise for Fox
Shesty gets 2-3M raise
Chytil gets 3-4M raise
then we have to pay Kakko, Kravtsov and Lafreniere. If they have breakout years, that will be costly.

So if Eichel is out, I wonder if the NYR may actually be the ones who pay Danault
Assuming he still wants and needs surgery, he will probably sit out the season, let his NMC kick in plus his 7.5M signing bonus. So no he won't hold out for 5 years but I can't see them letting it get to that point.Buffalo is handling the Eichel situation correctly. Fitzy's 5 point plan for big happy success
1) Trade Ryan Strome to Ottawa for Ridley Grieg
2) Sign Ryan Suter to 1 year x 5 million
3) Sign Paul Stastny to 1 year x 3.5 million
4) Sign Luke Glendening to 2 years x 2 mil
5) Extend Zibby
Panarin-Stastny-Goodrow
Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kakko
Kreider-Chytil-Kravtsov
Barron-Glendening-Blais
Rooney, Gauthier
Lindgren-Fox
Suter-Lundkvist
Miller-Trouba
Bitteto
Grieg, Pajuniemi, Schneider, Robertson, Jones start in the AHL.
i was thinking they may sign a ufa vet to play top 6 . Stastny isn’t a bad option . I expect Strome gone
If I had to be realistic... It's 5x$9M. Maybe get him down to $8M with more term
I was hoping Fox would take a 'hometown discount'... 8x7 or something. Which would more than likely mean we have to bridge Laf, Kakko, Kravtsov and Chytil. It gets a lot tougher if some of those guys have insane 'Fox-type' years.... especially Laf.
Still have to account for it.Yes, but most of those deals will be spread out a bit. The Zib and Fox extensions are next summer al.ost with Kakko. Laff and I believe Kravstov are the follow summer after that. By that time all the buyouts will be cleared as well as the contract for Strome.
Thinking of giving him a sort of Tuch type deal... Could be a bargain down the road. Hoping he will break out given the opportunityexactly although Chytil will most likely be bridged so have some time there
What about Dadonov and White
Dadonov fits the shorter term deal for a winger
Is White worth it? Dvorak better ?
I think the problem here is the controversy with the surgery. If it's still going down that road, it had to be done months ago if Buffalo were not going to trade him this offseason. Get him up to speed at some point next year, show other teams what he's got, and then make the trade before that NMC. Now if they can't trade him and they still go for the surgery, he's missing out the entire season. Good luck trading him then.Buffalo is handling the Eichel situation correctly. I’m trying hard not to overreact about the news about Panarin being “livid”. I love the player on the ice, but too much front office stuff seems to run through him.
I’m not convinced we win the Cup with him getting paid the way he does and driving decision making the way he does. He’ll continue to contend for the Art Ross but I’m not sure that we’re going to win a lot of games.
I dunno. Like I said, probably over reacting.
He apparently dictates who he plays with. I can only assume he dictates moves to a certain extent.Too much of the front office stuff seems to run through him? What do you mean? Did the Rangers take back to Buchnevich trade?
WhoSo guys what do you think is best, (a) Gorton signs Virtanen now (giving Washington, NYI and co time to adjust in the arms race) or (b) Gorton signs Virtanen just before the Camp starts?
