Please, please, please let Eichel go to a division rival, especially Montreal whom would take on another huge contract. They never learn lol.

Have said from the beginning that Eichel will end up on Vegas somehow. Krebs, Brisson, Morozov, 1st 2022 unprotected for Eichel.

I’m trying hard not to overreact about the news about Panarin being “livid”. I love the player on the ice, but too much front office stuff seems to run through him.

I’m not convinced we win the Cup with him getting paid the way he does and driving decision making the way he does. He’ll continue to contend for the Art Ross but I’m not sure that we’re going to win a lot of games.

I dunno. Like I said, probably over reacting.

I missed tnat.

Can you provide some context?

If the Eichel thing is in "different Venn diagrams," it doesn't sound like they cleared out the cap space and got okey-doked by Kevyn with a Y a couple hours later on draft day. They just...wanted to trade Buchnevich for that return.

I posted a couple days ago Rangers have no interest in moving Chytil or Lundkvist/Schneider in this deal and someone deleted it but it holds true.

Friedman basically confirmed it
So is Vince full of shit? He said Chytil was in the offer with Buch, 15, and a D prospect.

Whats the Mika contract in this scenario?

Between the 2, I'd choose the Mika option if the contract isn't 7 or 8 years. Devil you know vs the one you don't kind of thing.

Personally? I'd rather see whats behind door #3.
If I had to be realistic... It's 5x$9M. Maybe get him down to $8M with more term

I was hoping Fox would take a 'hometown discount'... 8x7 or something. Which would more than likely mean we have to bridge Laf, Kakko, Kravtsov and Chytil. It gets a lot tougher if some of those guys have insane 'Fox-type' years.... especially Laf.

We've seen drury sign two contracts. one was a UFA where he was squeezed by the market on a player he identifed as incredibly important to the next step, and the other was an RFA that got a small raise and everyone both assumed it had been finished before he was promoted but was also exactly on point with what we expected/ what he deserved.

I get that no one was super thrilled by the buch trade ( and im in that camp) but I'd like to give drury a little more time before traveling down the pit of dispair. Looking at the reinhart trade, the buch trade looks slightly better, and he didnt move the first, especially where the value was so low, and the players he got in the draft seem to fit a mold and direction, which in 3-4 years is probably perfect for us.
He took some swings, he got some high upside kids or developmental prospects, but also some solid kids.
6 years to a good, gritty bottom6 PKer is mind numbing.

i don’t believe he’s in the offer if he was I think the deal would have been done by now.

I think as Friedman said we are nowhere near on the same page with Buffalo.

someone forget who mentioned an offer of Chytil Jones kravtsov and 15 and the Rangers source laughed at it

That was Dreger on Friday. If Chytil isn't in the deal, and if Schneider/Lundkvist aren't. Who the hell is?

The move to trade Buchnevich was about clearing cap space, and other GM's knew this. If Drury had three offers on the table for Buchnevich and that was the best one, that essentially confirms it. Reinhart didn't get as much as I thought he would either. A so so goalie prospect and what's likely going to be a 24-32 overall pick. A projected flat cap is making the trade market a buyer's market. Chicago overpaying for Jones is the outlier. That was the worst trade of the weekend, by far.

Whether for Eichel or for another center, Drury plans on using the cap space this summer, otherwise the Rangers would have just qualified Buch and kicked the can down the road another year. I think Danault is going to be the play here. I don't mind Danault at close to the numbers that are out there. He's a great fit. The Rangers need that match up center that PK's and can win a faceoff. Zibanejad and Chytil are not going to be those guys. I'm also of the belief his offensive numbers will bump up nicely with the forward group this team has.

Sign Zibs for 5 years 8.5M - best case scenario
Sign Fox for 8 years $7.5M - best case scenario
Sign Chytil 6-7 years $4M

Trade for Dvorak
Trade Strome for Soucy + 2022 2nd

Panarin Dvorak Kravtsov
Lafreniere Zibs Kakko
Kreider Chytil Goodrow
Barron Rooney Blais
*Ideally Goodrow and Blais would be swapped. Don't see how you sign a guy for 6 years to start him on the 4th line.

Lindgren Fox
KAM Trouba
Soucy Lundkvist

I think we tried to get buchy into this trade originally

I think kravtsov Jones/Robertson Georgiev our first round pick and potentially an offer to take a short term bad contract back with jack were all options for Buffalo to consider

but I truly believe Drury has been reluctant to part with any core pieces for an injured jack eichel.

So after Buch we have 21 million in cap space. Is it possible Drury wanted to show the Pegulas that it doesn't have to be a dollar for dollar trade. The Rangers will take Eichel and the Sabres can get the cash benefits along with a fair package.

cant really say that until we see what they do on Wednesday.
