Bring him in for a few preseason games. If he can handle being the back up then maybe it opens the door to Georgiev being moved for a 2nd and some goon type player who isn’t really a goon but he’s big, strong, handsome young lad that lady-ranger fans would drool over.

I honestly think outside of a change in 2C (maybe), the Rangers are done unless something else pops up. They got their big vet LD, they got some grinders in Goodrow and Bilas. All thats left would be an upgrade at center if its out there.

another power foward in the top 6. still too soft and too much finesse in the top 6.

NYR will have like 8 million in cap space this season if we do nothing else.

That's a pretty big waste of an asset.

I dont disagree, but they dont want to pay the cost for Eichel, so who else is out there worth taking away from the kids? I mean we traded Buch to play the kids, why would we sign another winger?, defense is pretty much set, so why use the cap?

Michael Douglas was once asked why he wanted to break up Blue Star Airlines. His reply? Because it's breakable!

Why use the cap? Because it's usable.

Would be cool to just overpay someone on a 1 year deal, like Hall got in Buffalo, I just don’t know who that player is this summer?

Right. Getting Goodrow and Blais only puts a band-aid on the problem. Sure, it's nice that there's some sandpaper in the bottom 6 now, but top 6 needs to play in traffic and along the boards for real success. Why does Panarin love Strome so much? Because he's E/W and Strome obliges him. But he's Panarin, so he's special. Which means it's going to have to be others who play grittier.

I dont see any of the bigger FAs like Landeskog (obv not), Coleman, or any of that nature signing a 1/2 year deal, so if you're gonna use the cap you're looking at 3-5 year deals and I just dont see anyone worth it in FA for that. Unless Drury has another trade or trades lined up (lord help us) there's just nothing there to use it on.

You can use it during the season too if something pops up, be it before or at the TDL

can the Rangers sign a player for like 10m, trade him for 50% retained and get a 1st round pick? Maybe a team is only offering that player like 9m. We tell the player to do a sign and trade and he gets 10m but that team only counts for 5m on the cap.

This is for a 1 year contract only.
