I can't believe people post these complete made up stats like "Chance of becoming a star" and the zoomer generation just eats it up.

My personal favorite is the "chance of becoming a star" being posted seconds after a player is drafted. And then hockey twitter using those charts as if they're gospel.

Exactly. They lost the ability to trade a known high pick, they aren't trading Zegras, Drysdale or McTavish (wouldn't make sense after they just drafted him), they are another team that is still in the beginning stages of a rebuild.

I’d move Schneider before Nils

Agreed. Since Nils is better than Schneider, I don't know why so many people seem to want to move Nils first.

Soft Euro Bias, Canadian Farm Boy bias, misplaced belief that all defenders need to be huge, etc.

Look at it this way, if we can move Strome, Schneider, Jones, and a first for Eichel, that resolves our dilemma on the blue line nicely.

I would love Blake Coleman but I think he signs somewhere else.

I think we sign Nick Ritchie or a similar player and the Nemeth signing becomes official. Boring but I just don't see how all these moving pieces are going to slot in for a balanced lineup for 2021-22.

I agree, i love Nils but he hasn't played a game in North America yet, its a big enough challenge for a forward to get used to the NHL let along a dman who played over seas. The speed, size and intensity of an NHL forecheck can change those projections in a hurry if you aren't used to the small rink North American game. Maybe Nils is different, but most need an adjustment period at best and at worst their play drops off. He's a great prospect no doubt though.

This Eichel thing reminds me of Panarin. We’ve proposed our best offer as take it or leave it and are apparently “out”, there are a couple other teams that are super close to landing him, then last minute we get him because it turns out they were just holding out and using other teams as leverage.

If the “mandate” from Dolan is to make the playoffs, how can Drury even contemplate trading for a guy who might miss a big chunk of the season? When it comes to Eichel, just say NO!

Agree 100% but using that logic why would they go into the season with Chytil as a number 2 center which many on this Board have pushed for. That would be a big leap of fate.

Last time Drury was involved in free agency day. He cash strapped the Rangers for 5 years. One of the worst Ranger free agent signings in the last 20 years. Learn from Sather's mistakes and be better. Nervous as can be.

Drury's contract was fine. He just had some freak injuries. Gomez contract was the bad one.

Having Lindgren Trouba Miller Robertson and soon Nemeth allows you to trade Schneider before Lundkvist. Thinking Schneider is better and more needed just because he’s a big ol canadian boy is buffoonery. Fox can’t carry all the offense by himself and Jones < Lundkvist.

Well, for one thing, Nils is either the best defensive prospect not in the NHL or he's very close.

from what i understand, so many kids had a broken schedule due to covid they’re going next year. It’s extremely loaded so that draft slot is big. We can’t go back to losing #1’s in exchange for high priced talent imo. My gosh, they won won two lotteries and stole a Norris trophy winner. It’s pathetic if they still can’t figure this out without expensive shopping.

The other lottery changes go into effect, but they have no bearing on anything because our wins in 2019 and 2020 don't count against us. We can still win 1st or 2nd overall next year if we miss the playoffs.

The reality is that we don't know who will be better between Nils and Schneider.

I will say that I'd trade any of the left defenseman prospects before either of them, though, and I think NYR feel similarly.

ALso why all this Eichel talk, I've seen nothing linking him to us recently.
