Imo if the Eichel deal happens just keep strome and let his year run out or move him at the deadline. He's good insurance if there's injuries, can play wing when he isn't at center. Btw I'm just assuming a deal for eichel icludes chytil, if it doesn't then this doesn't apply as much.

Buf fans think if they trade with the Rangers it will have to be

Lafreniere
Strome or Zibanejad
Schneider or Nils
1st

You lost me at "La...

Honestly id rather overpay for Danault than even think about this trade anymore

i dislike both yet, yes, Danault is only money.

Honestly, with so many prospects and Strome still here is wish the Rangers remain silent if not bargain shopping.

One thing about the Eichel trade before the draft was that players like Robertson and Jones were likely of interest for Buffalo. Now, those players probably are of little interest. When you have spent two #1 overall picks on left handed defensemen, you're not acquiring one in a trade. That's your left side for a decade. It removes one of the stronger and deeper positions on the Rangers prospect depth chart.

You are going to have to add in one of Schneider or Lundkvist. Their need at that position is high. It would just be smart to include one of them there. Up front, you would also think that Buffalo is looking for centers. Cozens and Mittelstadt are their top two centers, both high picks, but this draft they took all wingers after Power with their additional first and 2nd rounders.

If I'm putting together the potential package it would be:

Chytil, Schneider, 2022 1st, and Georgiev.

Buffalo has Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen that is their top goalie prospect, but are they going to shop for a veteran or someone that can fill 1A shoes for a few years while he establishes himself. Sabres haven't had a good goalie since Lehner was there, and before him it was Ryan Miller. If one more small piece needs to be added.

I wouldn't be willing to add any more. That's more than enough for Eichel at this stage. Other teams don't have the pieces we do and the rumored Vegas offer is not better than this.

No way i’m moving a 2022 #1. That draft is loaded.

Larry must have gotten the text from Sather this morning that Schneider may be part of the package for Eichel lol

100% what happened.

Not sure how I would feel about it. Schneider seems like a lock to figure in to winning hockey at the NHL level. That said, his upside is what, a good 2nd pairing dman? If they believe in Eichel's health, I probably wouldn't let that stop me. But how can anyone really believe in Eichel's health.

Schneider is a bonafide blue chip prospect, he's going to be a solid top 4 D one day.

However, we have to look at things in the context of trying to build a winner and our current roster building. We have so many good prospects that we can lose some good ones and still be okay in the future. I think we all have PTSD of having a barren farm system so the idea of trading any prospects scares everyone. truth is that there's not enough space for all of our prospects to develop and then play here. Part of rebuilding is accumulating assets to not only develop the players to be Rangers but also have trade chips in case a player they want becomes available.

It would suck to lose Schneider but if we need to trade him to make a deal that makes the team better and gives us a better chance of winning in the next 5 years (Panarin's contract) we have to do it.

We have a 23 year old Norris winner, 8m Trouba and Nils who is probably on of the best D prospects outside the NHL right now. As much as I like Schneider, trading him isn't going to kill us. I'm not even saying I want to move Schneider or that I want to trade for Eichel, just talking about roster building a little bit.

There are two Eichel prices. The Rangers and Habs will need to pay more. The western conference teams can get the player for less. The Sabres don’t want Eichel in their division or playing for the Rangers.

i would think they would move him West. I think LA is perfect. They have a ton of prospects and he’s out the Conference.

You can always buy out / trade Trouba when the time comes.

Pray for a miracle. Revenue skyrockets, escrow paid off, cap @ $100M

I mean, that's not a miracle. The cap is going to go way, way up, it's just a matter of when.

It's why we should probably use any excess cap space this year and next year to lock in guys like Fox and Chytil long term. Those deals will eventually be the kind of bargains that you build a long term contender around.

Thinking we are going to end up with Danault or Eichel. Danault will be a 1 mill overpay but that's what free agency is. I'm good with it. I'd rather keep Nike and Braden. And you have to think Larry is referencing an Eichel trade with that tweet.

They need to pre-emptively sign key players.

Kakko will not be worth 10M after this season. Give him a long term contract and eat some UFA years.

Laf might be after the next 2 seasons. Even then, hopefully they extend him next off-season.

Same for our defensemen, Kravtsov and Chytil etc

Trying to lock up our core to good value contracts before the Cap takes off

Yes, yes, yes.

Add Igor and Kakko

Danault is going to Vegas according to twitter.

Last time Drury was involved in free agency day. He cash strapped the Rangers for 5 years. One of the worst Ranger free agent signings in the last 20 years. Learn from Sather's mistakes and be better. Nervous as can be.
