Well, for one thing, Nils is either the best defensive prospect not in the NHL or he's very close.

great, move him straight up for a center then. Otherwise, none of these prospects are being sold on a high.

we're not gonna be in the running for a top pick and the lottery changes are in effect starting next draft right? I don't care how "loaded" a draft is, if its in the teens or early 20s who cares

I believe none of the previous NYR lottery wins will be factored in. The new rules start the accruing process in 2022.

Tampa gonna lose Coleman, Johnson and Goodrow, thats a huge part of their playoffs.

And they lost Gourde to expansion. Their entire 3rd line and Johnson who swung between the 4th and 2nd lines at times.

Their depth is gone and the East teams know it. It's wide open for someone from the group of the Islanders, Bruins, Leafs, and Hurricanes to jump into the #1 spot. Then you have Pens, Caps, Rangers, Montreal, Flyers, and Panthers that are in the group below those teams at the moment.

It's not hyperbole to say that the East has 11 teams that are expecting to make the postseason this year and are operating to do that. On top of that the Devils are looking to spend their money this offseason and Ottawa is even looking to add pieces.

I don't think I can remember the East being this loaded and that all but maybe three organizations are pushing to get better. Detroit, Columbus, and Buffalo are searching for the top pick in the draft.

Drury's contract was fine. He just had some freak injuries. Gomez contract was the bad one.
LOL! Do people actually believe this. He played 264 games and scored 150 points and was being paid as a top 30 player in the NHL. We had to buy out the last year.

Gomez was awful, but at least he got us Ryan McDonagh (probably the best and most consistent Ranger in the past 20 years - outside of Lundqvist)

Im ok trading 1 1st rounder in a given year but I'm not ok making that a trend, you need your 1st picks to backfill for when players become too pricey to keep. If you look at Toronto they are in big trouble because they kept dumping theirs firsts off and now they are capped out, they have 9 mill to fill in for Hyman, Bogosian, Andersson, Thornton etc and nobody outside of Nic Roberson or Joey Anderson ready to come up. Their left wing is barron now, the need a starter and will be relying on lilegren and sandin to be their 3rd pair. We can't let it get to that.

One thing about the Eichel trade before the draft was that players like Robertson and Jones were likely of interest for Buffalo. Now, those players probably are of little interest. When you have spent two #1 overall picks on left handed defensemen, you're not acquiring one in a trade. That's your left side for a decade. It removes one of the stronger and deeper positions on the Rangers prospect depth chart.

You are going to have to add in one of Schneider or Lundkvist. Their need at that position is high. It would just be smart to include one of them there. Up front, you would also think that Buffalo is looking for centers. Cozens and Mittelstadt are their top two centers, both high picks, but this draft they took all wingers after Power with their additional first and 2nd rounders.

If I'm putting together the potential package it would be:

Chytil, Schneider, 2022 1st, and Georgiev.

Buffalo has Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen that is their top goalie prospect, but are they going to shop for a veteran or someone that can fill 1A shoes for a few years while he establishes himself. Sabres haven't had a good goalie since Lehner was there, and before him it was Ryan Miller. If one more small piece needs to be added.

I wouldn't be willing to add any more. That's more than enough for Eichel at this stage. Other teams don't have the pieces we do and the rumored Vegas offer is not better than this.

Strome, Schneider, 2022 1st (lottery win protected), and either Georgiev or Jones.

I can't believe people post these complete made up stats like "Chance of becoming a star" and the zoomer generation just eats it up.

Well there are statistics behind it. I think the better question is "What are those statistics that he is interpreting, with words, as 'becoming a star'?"

It's a painful pick to part with but if you throw top 3 protection on it I can live. It's not a super stud in that case, it might be a Lundell level player at 20, but it's not Byfield.

Lol. Gomez bringing in McD has nothing to do with how bad he was. Gomez brought in McD because montreals GM was a brain dead moron.

Drury was our 1C and pretty much played up to his career production his first 2 seasons here. His 3rd year he had a nagging injury all year and his 4th year he missed most of the season before getting bought out and retiring. Drury was a great captain and leader and it reflected because the team played much better when drury was able to play vs when he wasnt in his 4th year.

But im not going to convince anyone of anything. Of all the bad contracts the rangers have handed out, drury's wasnt even close to the worst.
