Logically speaking I agree. No, they wouldn’t.oilers wouldn't
The thing I never liked about Boyle was that he was basically the opposite of an alpha, whatever that's called.
Very typical Ranger who follows the officials into a scrum and has some "unpleasant words".
Chris Neil was as vicious as they come. But could play hockey tooYeah, I am also laughing a bit at the status he has received. But their aren’t many Neil’s around anymore I guess...
any mention of potential trade partners?
Of course not. That would provide too much non generic info.

Kreider is a really good LW right now no debating that, what's he look like in 3 or 4 years time at 7-8 mill? Love the guy, great skill set that never quite peaked but he is a guy who is likely to be injured more than he is healthy in his 30s. It's time to let the past gen that didn't get the job done move on. Of all the players we moved on from the one guy I would maybe have kept was Stepan, his cap hit doesnt seem outlandish anymore, we did get DeAngelo and Anderson from it so it will likely be best for the team but it would be nice to have him behind Zibanajad now.
Kreider is a difference-maker when healthy, but what percentage of the time has he been truly healthy these past few years?
This is purely anecdotal on my part, but he always seems to have nagging injuries that cause a dip in production. Could he end up being a Blake Wheeler type that keeps improving into his 30s? Sure, but the odds are overwhelmingly against that happening. In the past 8 years, Wheeler has missed 6 games. It's absolutely insane.
I'd look for Kreider to have a big year, then trade him for something marginally better than the Hayes return. Hayes played the more important position, but Kreider is undoubtedly a higher tier of player. Once teams start deluding themselves into believing they have a legit shot at the cup, picks and prospects that were previously off the table will become available. Gorton is nothing if not patient.
How convenient for you that you use those metrics. In the last 5 years, Kreider has played full seasons in 4 of them.
I classify a full season as someone that has played in at least 90% of the teams games.

Kreider can't seem to stay healthy, even if he's in the lineup. I'm not giving him a deal longer than 4 years, and he's not taking a deal that short.
Since his game is not predicated on his speed, I think he can be who he is for another 5 years.
Kreider does his best work along the boards and in front of the net with his size and ability to tip shots on net.
His speed makes him dangerous, but it's not what makes him who he is.
I think CK has another 5-6 years of similar production ahead of him
I just dont believe it's worth 7 per for 7-8 years.
I'd give him the same contract JVR got, but that's it.
Age deterioration isn't only about skating ability. Reaction time is a really big one that gets overlooked a lot. If his reaction time slips, all that great work along the boards and in front of the net will suffer.
There's really no way to predict what will happen.
