Sign Lemmy & ADA for $1M each on one year deals
Sign Buch for $3M on a 2 year deal. Or one if they cannot reach that.
Bring in a cheap #7 UFA vet D. Maybe a cheap UFA fwd (that Russian Burdasov guy?) too
Ready to roll without cap strapping the team moving fwd, not losing anything important and still having the possibility to get maxvalue for #20 when the time is ripe

I'm surprised they are talking about trading Howden after only one year with the team.

2019-2020

Keep in mind this is a dream scenario, sure some of these trades could happen in isolated circumstances, but the likelyhood of the Rangers being able to execute all of these deals is non-zero, but it's as close as you can get.

First, see the Rangers roster/cap for the 2019/2020 NHL Season (Another try at fixing the Rangers and making all fanbases happy at the same time - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps).

In the NYR-VGK deal, the Knights get their ask of a 2nd and a prospect, and that prospect happens to be NHL ready to center Vegas' 4th line, Brett Howden. Has potential to be a cornerstone 3rd line C on a Cup Contending team. He is young and cost-controlled, and will be able to move up and down the lineup for VGK. The Rangers are able to get a tantalizing player in Gusev, who will have no issues joining Panarin, Buchnevich, Rykov, Kravtsov and Shesterkin in NY.

In the NYR-EDM trade, the Rangers get a 2020 1st and reclamation project Jesse Puljujarvi for Chris Kreider. The 2020 draft will be deep, so even if the Oilers make the PLayoffs (with the addition of Kreider and Names they likely could), the NYR will get a great player. Trading Names with 1M retained, while also taking cap casualties Gagner and Manning gets the Rangers a 2nd and 3rd round pick, with the 3rd possibly being augmented to a 2nd if Kreider re-signs, further upping the value of the deal. Mutually beneficial trade.

In the NYR-SJS trade, it may seem like an overpayment by SJ at first glance, but when broken down it isn't at all. Fast is a guy all Cup champs employ, and at <2M, he's a bargain. The 2nd and 3rd is for him (mirroring the return MTL got for Shaw), while Georgiev gets the Rangers another 2nd, which could turn into a first if he becomes the teams "starter". That is similar to the price the Sharks payed to get Jones, who was less proven than Goergiev at the time of trades.

In the NYR-ANA trade, the Rangers rid themselves of the entire Shattenkirk albatross. In all accounts, this trade will end up being a loss for NYR, but a needed loss. The Rangers would never be able to offer Shatty a chance to rebound, at most giving him 3rd pair minutes and spotty PP time with Trouba and DeAngelo ahead of him on both the RHD side and the PP facet. Meanwhile, Anaheim has the space to take on the full contract, while they are also able to offer him top-4 mins and PP time, which will let him rebound at least some of the way. For helping the Rangers, they also gain a 2021 1st round pick, which likely won't be lottery as the Rangers team previewed in this Armchair would likely be a playoff team in year 1, and definitely a playoff team in year 2.

Lrt me know if youguys want me to do a 2020-2021 Snapshot as well if you liked this! Again, I know this won't happen, but I think it would be one of the best scenarios I could imagine.

Considering the fact this team is obsessed with adding wings, it's possible he meant Paul.

Did you mean #20?

Listen, if you think that Nieves as proven anything to be handed over a spot, that is up to you. To me, it is debatable if he is even an NHL player. And as I would much rather that Howden, Andersson and Chytil did their developing on a line other than the 4th line, I would rather take a good locker room guy who will set a good example for the kids.

I think that I already listed out my reasons for Boyle being a 4th line center.

Strome should not be playing on the 4th line. Neither should the kids that I listed above. And if Boyle would sign a cheap contract and be brought into camp, and then proceed to beat out the likes of Letteri (who would be playing out of position) or Nieves (who has shown exactly a hair more than Letteiri) then these guys should not even be bench warmers in the NHL level. People talk about earning spots but even for a 4C, what have the players you are pounding the table about shown that they should be simply handed a spot?
I don't want to hand anything to anyone. I want an open competition to see who can step up and win a spot. And if Nieves is given the inside track and fails, then great, we know to move on from him. This is a year where we should be experimenting with kids or younger fringe players to figure out what we have or do not have before next year or the following year when we ramp it up. We don't need Boyle, we have other veterans on the team and a strong coaching staff.

For me Boyle — might — only fill a role as an alpha male vet presence in the room if you get what I mean. Who will stand up and speak when it’s needed? Do we have someone who can set someone straight if it’s needed? Stuff like that. Some times you do not want a vacuum, you don’t want 22-23 y/o’s trying to step up and fill a void. If Kreider goes we are really inexperienced up front.
The thing I never liked about Boyle was that he was basically the opposite of an alpha, whatever that's called.
Very typical Ranger who follows the officials into a scrum and has some "unpleasant words".

In internet parlance, the opposite of an alpha is a beta. For whatever reason.

Think we should sign Brassard, and maybe trade for Stepan. Lias + D'Angelo should get it done. then we can have a proper brawl.
Brassard would be a great fit imo if we have the cap space left after all our moves. Would also make the Zibby trade that much better

Even when he got hit dirty, it seemed like all he could muster was a scowl, “HEY!”, and maybe he would grip the other player and look for the refs to step in.

If its anything like the other fights he's been in, it'll be embarrassing
Yea screw Boyle for sticking up for his teammates. I mean im sure he knows he is no fighter compared to some of the actual fighters in the league and yet dropped the gloves anyway for his teams. But again screw him! Ridicule him!

We don’t need Brassard. We won’t have the cap room. That trade can’t get any better.

I’m sorry, is there a rule about not criticizing players for their play on here? I missed that one.

No rule but youre going out of your way to “criticize” a player who played hard here and had an impact. Now you are just ridiculing him. Quite childish. Keep it up. But dont be sarcastic when someone calls you out.

Boyle fought players and lost. Wasnt a fighter. But he did it to stick up for his team and himself. But screw him!

You’re right. Boyle is the BEST ENFORCER. Anyone who says otherwise is laughing at Boyle, and wishes ill on his personal being!
Like i said keep it up. All you do is have negative shit to say about everything. All the time. You were just on your bitch rant last week about the Rangers and the moves they made and their cap situation. Bitching things had not been resolved yet.

No one was saying Boyle was being brought into fight anyone or that he was ever a good fighter, and yet you had to bring that irrelevant fact into the discussion with your snobbish, unfounded comment.

Keep adding value to the board.
