From a Bolts fan....

You'll love him. Tough in corners, great in the muck in the crease, wins face offs, skates hard and fast. He could be a 2C in the right system, just too much traffic in front of him now and we can't afford him.

In other words, our cap starved team got fleeced. Enjoy watching him play.

Always appreciate takes from other teams fans. Hope we see you guys in the final next year. 😁

Had season tickets in Tampa 7 years ago lol. My #2 team

I'm not saying it was significant. All I'm saying is that CMac wasn't playing 4D chess and just made some f***ing stupid moves. And it's okay to acknowledge that without pretending he had some kind of master plan
I wouldn't call it a stupid move. It was a move that didn't work out. If the team had caught lightning in a bottle, however unlikely last year, they needed center depth. The move didn't work despite a lot of talking heads thinking it was a solid move at the time. The fact that he ended up playing 2C says how bad our depth was. It gave us some chance versus no chance in last year's playoffs. Didn't work, see Nemeth, Soderberg etc.

Hate to be THAT guy but I remember watching the Finals and thinking Colton is never gonna score on the Avs. Just seemed like he couldn't do enough with the puck. FWIW I felt the same way about Cirelli but he was playing with one shoulder. They had a couple of moments but not much sustained in the offensive end. That Avs team was so solid defensively most of the time though.

Okay, not going to lie, this trade has softened the blow some what for Newhook's trade away for me :snide:. I feel like we've just got a Matt Calvert clone (and he was one of my all time faves). And for a 2nd no less, that we just picked up.

Statistically Colton (based on last year) was pretty much better in all metrics apart from GWG's, and plus/minus compared to Newy. Then add the intangibles like leadership and toughness.

Look at this physicality on Huberdeau AND another player - that's something we need:

Those highlights were great. My favorite bit was his net front presence. He's got a knack for being in the right place to put those rebound and tips from the point in. We lacked that badly without Landy last season.

He gave the opponent a power play - a stupid penalty with 4 minutes left in the 3rd and a one-goal lead.

Unless it's early in a playoff series and he knocked a star player out for the series, I'll pass on that brand of physicality.

this made yesterday trade even better. Colton is better than NewJost and arguably better also than JTC for the role the Avs want to fill. Id love to see Jeannot on the Avs, ship has sailed though, so Colton is a damn good consolation prize. Mack - Johansen - Colton - Meyers/Foudy is a ton better than what we had one year ago. and we still have two 1sts to use!

ps: Mark my words boy, mark them well. Colton is better and will continue being better than NewJost. just like the original, he is what he is and his potential will never come true. Avs have survived without his predecessor and will survive without him too.

The imbecile ref should have assessed penalties to both players, that was a game management call because Florida-duh was losing. Arguably Ynadle should have been penalized for being the 3rd man in. Moron refs cannot call the rulebook clean.

Huberdeau elbowed him in the face to start the whole thing too. Obvious matching minors scenario if they were doing their jobs properly.

Colton and a pick! All it cost was Newhook. Now, how cheap can we get Eller?

You need a new deal as an RFA. Do you have a sense of timeline there?

Once they traded for me and speaking with the GM and my agent, it was kind of just, “Hey, our intention is to get you signed, let’s circle back this weekend.” They’re swamped with the draft, my agent is there and swamped with the draft. There’s no rush. I think we’re all on the same page. We’re doing this to try to get something done for me to be an Av. I don’t want to overthink it too much. I’m assuming we’re going to get that all done this weekend.

Last minute of play, up by a goal, Bedner better be sending out a line of

Lehky - Ross - Nuke

I’m still putting the dog on the ice in the final minute. Put someone else in to win the draw, but MacKinnon wins battles and beats people to pucks.

Love what the Avs have going on at Centre now though:

MacK
Johansen
Colton

Vs

MacK
Compher
Eller

I think it’s a huge upgrade. So much better suited for the playoffs.
