No way the Leafs are going to trade Knies (no matter how much I'd want him).

Blues wouldn't trade Snuggerud + a 1st for Tavares is he was an upcoming UFA rental.

We really need to get off the Knies being the center of the deal. It's not going to happen.

Unless It's a blockbuster deal one that pushes Toronto all in, TRULY all in

like if there was a way for Toronto to land Tarasenko AND ROR

I mean it's Possible, but that would definitely have to be centered around two 1sts and Knies for the Blues to look at trading their two top value rentals to one team. Then more added value from the Leafs for the Blues taking on all of Kerfoot, Engvall, and Holl for cap reasons.

It would definitely be a Hail Mary down by 5 with 10 seconds left on the clock move.

Edit: I don't think that Toronto would, or even should do a deal like that. I'm just saying that the Blues shouldn't have any really interest in doing a deal like that unless they are getting full value for Both players, and trading both to a single team would end up with the Blues losing value on one of them at least.

I don't disagree but what a wild deal it would be, it would be the deal of the deadline for sure, it would make the Leafs offense borderline unstoppable.

I wonder how many parts that trade thread would be.

I can't remember the last time a deal like that was made.

Maybe the Gomez for Higgins (and a McDonough who was drafted 2 years prior) or the Seguin/Erikson trade? But those were both in the offseason.

Idk something crazy like that would be a pipedream. Imho but anything can happen.

Edit: I meant deals that size (6 or more players)

Nah. It hasn't been that long don't forget JT Miller and Ryan McDonough to Tampa.

I think if the Leafs and Blues pulled off a blockbuster that big this site would crash

2023 1st 2024 1st, knies, minten or niemela and probably a 2025 2nd

This would get retention and money coming back to equal out.

Honestly that's a crazy effing offensive lineup.

Mathews Nylander tarasenko
Orielly taveres marner
That's a crazy bad azz first two lines.

Toronto has tough decision this deadline. Will they give up Knies for that big piece that puts them over the top?

I think it would be closer to this

Bunting Matthews Marner

Nylander Tavares Tarasenko

Jarnkork ROR ?

there might need to be1 more forward addition to fill out the 3rd line

I would target Max Domi because he's not going to have a ton of trade value he never does, but I think if he gets moved he will be an under rated key piece

Depends on who it is.

Is there a big piece on the table with term that nobody knows is available? For example Travis Konecy? If that's the case then Knies is most likely available.

Is the rental Timo Meier? Then Knies is most likely available.

For ROR? probably not

Honestly make the deal bigger. Go for barbashev or acciari as well. Block buster that sheet

I would have paid an absolute shit-tonne for prime ROR, but current ROR is … not that. Have caught a few Blues games this year, he looks washed, invisible and ineffective. Doubt I just caught bad games either, since his stats are horrendous, and now he has to come back from a broken foot too. Pass.

We already tried dealing for a guy who was stylistically a good fit, but over the hill, in Nick Foligno, and it was a total waste. Zero interest in repeating that mistake. If we’re going to pursue a rental, I’d rather go after a guy who’s actually in his prime, like Timo Meier, even if he’s quite a bit pricier.

Isn't Barbashev a center? If you get Tarasenko and ROR you don't need Barbashev

Barbashev can play every forward position. He is by far the best for checker on the blues team. Amazing pk and can score.

Foligno doesn't compare to ror.

Does Edmonton have forests?

There are approximately 3,800 hectares of natural areas or 2,500 hectares of forested natural areas.

But only one 1st. My bad!🥶

I feel Dubas needs to make big splash. Everybody knows Tampa will improve at deadline. If Leafs go out another first round??? Not good

ROR is only 31. A proven playoff warrior. If just for a playoff, I’d take him over the over 2 unproven dudes, easily

Again just dont see Toronto has a trade partner with St. Louis unless Knies is a part of the package. Carolina seems to be the right partner and have shown interest in ROR and Tarasenko, and they have a solid prospect pool.

Minten is a plenty good enough prospect for a rental, could easily see Army having interest in him. Prospects like Knies don't get moved for rentals.

They just had a guy on 101 STL, talking about Leafs interest in both ROR and Barbie, and mentioned that Knies is the piece that would be the make or break the deal.
However they also mentioned that Vegas, Colorado, Carolina, Pitt, Dallas, and even Tampa have interest in ROR.

Who was the guy? If Toronto put Knies on the table, they'd be able to get any rental on the market. Maybe they do something stupid and offer him up, but I just don't see it happening. Also don't see the Blues drawing the hardline there, unless other teams are bidding like crazy for our guys.
