Nice. So it won't be the small rookie tournament where they play Sens and Jets only like they have the last 2-3 years.

Leafs used to participate but they then decided to go to the one in Detroit.

It's a good way to measure your prospects by playing another 4-5 teams.

I hate these tournaments for that exact reason. Lots of wannabees are hurting others.

It was streamed last year and relatively tame, I think they have better rules about who can attend (i.e. not 28 year old DIV I drop outs who knee prospects)

I hate these tournaments for that exact reason. Lots of wannabees are hurting others.

Unfortunately, it's true that some players want to prove themselves and end up doing something that hurts someone else.

But, these tournaments are necessary because the teams get to see where their prospects are in their development. And the best way to do so is in games. They can only evaluate so much in intra-squad scrimmages.

That type of tournament can really give a boost to players that have had lots of success in Juniors but need an opportunity to show they can shine at a bit higher level. I’m thinking of players like Roy or Xhekaj.
