Slaf vs Nemec
Nemec will do better and the world will burn for the rest of eternity.

Unfortunately, it's true that some players want to prove themselves and end up doing something that hurts someone else.

But, these tournaments are necessary because the teams get to see where their prospects are in their development. And the best way to do so is in games. They can only evaluate so much in intra-squad scrimmages.
They'll get injured one way or another. It's part of hockey. The whole "never ice kids so they don't get injured" is ridiculous. I mean might as well play barbie if you don't want to get injured ...

That is exactly what I'm saying.

I still remember Tkachuk schooling KK in that tournament a couple season ago. Hopefully the tide turn this time.

It depends on where you ice them. You don't want players getting hurt, but you really don't want players hurting each other in practices or in meaningless games. The habs bailed from this tournament because there were a bunch of career AHLers headhunting to get noticed, and often going after real prospects. There were enough injuries that it wasn't worthwhile to play the few crappy unbalanced games, especially when you have some really young prospects and some way older career AHLers filling out the lineups.

There wasn't enough real hockey to justify the bitter older guys going after the small young guys.

the article says:
"The unconfirmed format is that teams will play three games each"
"The event is typically reserved for prospects 20 years old or younger"
"Prospects on NCAA teams cannot take part in the event."
Exactly. A graduating NCAA player is usually allowed to participate.

Whereas those expected to play NCAA or in Europe this coming season don't get invited.

The Habs confirmed they're playing 3 games.

vs. Buffalo, New Jersey & Ottawa.

NCAA players don't participate because school has already started.

Europeans can participate. Most teams opt not to bring them over because European leagues start their regular seasons end of August/early September. So they prefer to have them stay there and be with their teams from the start.

Any word on tickets?

According to the Sabres' official announcement the other day, tickets will go on sale early August and will be 10$:

Tickets will go on sale in early August and will cost $10 per ticket. Sabres season-ticket members will have a preferred price for any ticket they purchase for the event. All games will be played at LECOM Harborcenter.

Probably not until the end of August, early September.

If I'm not mistaken the Sabres will likely stream it on their website.

Either way, there's going to be a stream. In this day and age if there isn't you dun goofed.
I could easily check but enjoy posting here. Thanks!

Is Slaf slated to be there?

Any invites? Curious if some of the guys like Israel Mianscum who were at the development camp get a second look.

I'm sure there will be. We won't know until a few days before rookie camp starts. We may get some reporters like Mikael Lalancette or Stephane Leroux report a player here and a player there along the way. But for the full list of invites, we will get it a few days before camp starts.

I’m not going unless there is some kind of beer garden with food. I’m not just sitting around watching ice hockey without it. I love you guys and gals… but not that much!

Not sure I can help you with the beer. lol There is a Tim Hortons around the corner!

I'd imagine there will be a concessions stand open.
