What happened to Zucc? Maybe put him back on a line with brass and poo.

Msl is terrible, we all know that.

Nash at least gave some good effort tonight.

D zone coverage was poor again, hank did screw up that one goal, but made a lot of good saves on those scrambles in front too. Rangers really need to clean up that leaving guys open in the slot thing.

Hagelin was excellent, 4th line was great again. Boyle especially keeps stepping it up.

Diaz was a guy I wanted to move MDZ for, odd he ended up on the rangers wearing #4 anyway. He's been pretty impressive.

only thing noteworthy zucc did this game was a glorious feed to richards who shot it wide. shame because richards had a snipe in this game.

some more notes:
our 4th line was amazing. brian boyle is so much more tolerable when he isn't overused by torts. he deserves to be resigned.

nash with yet another underwhelming performance. stepan has had his head up his ass for most of this year.

hank got outplayed, plain and simple. it doesn't help that our defensemen are way too soft in the crease. where is that McIlrath guy?

I hope that MSL comes to dominate at some point and posters begin to feel silly about what they've said. But as of right now the proof is in the pudding and we've seen little to indicate he can be the sort of player here he was in Tampa Bay.

The lines are jumbled, which makes things worse, and the PP has been a big problem as well. Get Pouliot back with his line, stop sheilding Richards with two fast players. He's a big boy.

This game should have at least gone to OT. Inexcusable goal let up by Lundqvist. I'm running out of excuses for MSL, but I still think he'll be an important player down the stretch and hopefully in the playoffs.

It's extremely hard to win 5+ in a row in the NHL. Also Calgary has been playing pretty well over the past month. Move on from this one and get ready for Sunday.

Well I do love small samples...

Or we love looking back at history instead of the current.

Cally flat out is a far better player in Tampa than Msl is in ny.

Is that going to change going forward? Probably not. Msl is already pushing 40

This is bad. MSL stinks

He's skating hard and getting to dirty areas, but he is fumbling a ton of passes. That's clearly a mental issue, unless his sticks are broken every shift which would be hard to believe.

99% of his issues right now are very clearly mental. He's going to get a goal and the floodgates will open. It's just a matter of when and we really need it right now.

However, that call at the end of the game was so bad. Giordano felt Marty squeezing by him so he grabbed him and then fell down. You see Marty look at him and say "nice dive." It was a dive. He initiated contact, Marty put his arm around him to squeak by and Giordano fell down. Smart play by Giordano but it's garbage. Either take both of them or don't call anything, especially that late in that game.

Excellent analysis. Well said.

In fact since Boyle,Moore,Dorsett has been such a good line the past two games I would even declare them one of the most dynamic lines in the league. All of them pitching in offensively, controlling play. If I were a scout I'd give up tons of prospects and picks for these players.

I would love to feel silly. If silliness could kill MSL can dig my grave. It would be my pleasure.

The last 10 games is clearly more indicative than the previous 300+. :sarcasm:

That said, St. Louis does need to start producing and show why he is that much better than Callahan. St. Louis was supposed to be an offensive upgrade. If St. Louis was even producing mediocre, for himself, he'd have 8 or 9 points in the 13 games. And that's if he was producing poorly. 0g 3a in 13 games? :shakehead

Wow, that is a Giroux sized slump, but even worse, because at least Giroux put up a couple more assists.

And Callahan was a 56 point player. We traded a 2015 1st for 4 points. Well done.

Wtf are you talking about? Callahan has never in his career reached 56 and MSL had over 60 points at the time of the trade. Callahan has cracked 25 goals and 50 points ONCE in his entire career.

It's more than that and you know it, if you've watched both play. Callahan has earned the love and respect of his teammates, coaches and fans in TB. And not because he has 8 pts in 11 games. Because he works his ass off every shift. MSL obviously doesn't do that. Or if he is trying, then he really looks his age out there. Just a horrible trade.

This is too small of a sample size though.

Will you eat crow when St. Louis out produces Callahan, a notorious 45 point player, next season?

What will you say if St. Louis scores 10 points in his next 7 games, and Callahan scores just 3 or 4 points?

Completely change your mind on who is the better player because of a 7 game stretch and what is most current?

I'm sorry, but that is a downright stupid way to view things.

I absolutely hate that mentality. A player could be great for 60 games, and stumble for 13, and now he is finished. But he can pick it back up again, he will be "elite" in the eyes of the fans, and than he will stumble over a four or five game stretch, slump again, and be finished. And fans will completely overlook that player coming out of the slump, producing at a high level, and use their three most recent games as validation for their opinion. It makes zero sense.

Martin St. Louis.

When you cry, whine, pout and demand a trade to one specific team who gives up a ton to get you, and then you don't perform, slack is not something you deserve. So far, this guy has forced his way from an under the radar club to the bright lights and has choked completely. He is the Ed Whitson of the Rangers. Luc Robitaille part deux. For what he gets paid and what the Rangers paid to get him, he is an epic failure.

Ok 54 points. That makes it so much better.

Besides 60 was an estimate. What has he actually given us? 3? Would rather have Callahan at 7 million.

Eat crow? That you think the trade is validated for an extra 5 points this year or 10 next year is just insane.

You don't move a player for someone ten years older and throw out multiple early draft picks for 10-15 points.

It amazes me that ranger fans continually support bringing in aging broken down former stars

Maybe I'm the only one but I thought Marty played fine. Not meeting expectations, but I wasn't angry with him after this game. I could count on one hand the passes from our defensemen up ice to our forwards that actually connected and sent them up ice. Seems like the only thing we can do are those stretch pass deflections, but at some point it'd be nice to see us enter the zone with speed and the puck at the same time.

I am not sure where you get an extra 10-15 points as, prior to this current stretch, St. Louis lowest point total in the past 8 years was still 20 more points than Callahans career high.

Aside from an atrocious penalty which effectively ended the game, he wasn't that bad.

If a person flat lined for 4 minutes and came back declared clinically brain dead, that still wouldn't be a valid excuse for them to give Callahan 7 million a year.

I mean would you be happier if St. Louis had like 0 goals and 11 assists now with absolutely no change in his play but the guys he passed to actually finish? Because I guarantee the outrage would be entirely different. It would be more like "Still no goals for Marty! *sarcasm* At least he's been tremendous at setting guys up"

And again, we are assuming he will never age and will be incredibly productive. Neither is true. He's a 38 year old who is playing like total crap. Maybe when he turns 39 the aging starts reversing

So the Rongo sisters took a beating, outmuscled all the way. The midgets are useless against physical teams.

Challenged several times, but they all ran away, even Dorsett. We really need a heavy weight. And Kreider will be missed, because of his size.

Lazy play by Hank tonight, but this loss is not his fault alone.
