just realised Kobe did not live long enough to get into the Hall of fame
I’m sure what ever requirements he did not meet they’ll waive for his induction. I did a very quick wiki search and I only saw a age requirement for coaches. I’ll admit I’m massively ignorant to basketball as I have not followed it since I was a kid. But someone in any sport doesn’t rack of the accolades that Bryant did and not end up in a hall.

Every time I comeback to this thread and read the title/see headlines on twitter, my heart sinks. It's hard to believe that he's gone so soon. RIP Kobe, Gianna, and everyone else who perished in this horrific tragedy.

Maybe they're just sharing their honest opinion

If they have an honest opinion, maybe they should reply to the responses calling into question their "honest opinion". I don't know if you can tell, but there's mounds and mounds of evidence on the internet and on TV suggesting that he was a great person. If they have a reasonable response to that, I'm all ears, but to this point, no one has responded when they've been called out for having that opinion.

I'm not sure if this makes a terrible person, but I hope that's the entire family just because the trauma of losing your parents and sister would be monumentally devastating, especially if you're the only one left.

The parents and their daughter are survived by an adult son (supposedly a scout for the Red Sox) and a high school-aged daughter.

Such a tragedy for all of the families who lost loved ones today.

One of the local LA stations is covering this tragedy and their sports casters were talking about the game four playoff game against the Phoenix Suns that Kobe won with a last-second shot and the next day Kobe was not with the team when they left for Phoenix for game five. When they saw Kobe the next night in the Lakers' Phoenix hotel, he told them his wife had given birth to their second child---another girl, and they asked him if they had a name in mind, and he said, yeah they did, Gianna. RIP Kobe and Gianna.

I'll never forget sitting down a few months ago in front on the TV and watching this.

It was on NBA TV one day. It was just jarring how Kobe and Shaq had made up. Back then it was a huge rivalry but they got together and just talked about the old times and their beef they had. You can see how driven Kobe was after Shaq won his in Miami after leaving. You can see how driven Kobe was to improve every day while Shaq was out relaxing. He was so driven.

I would strongly recommend watching this video because it's just two players chatting about the old days. There is no fluff, just honesty from both sides. It is just two players chatting.

Wow, that was a great watch. Thanks for posting it.

I'm up for having a discussion about why people feel the need to be trolls at a time like this. If they wanna be cowards and run away, I'm fine with that. I'm okay with taking two minutes out of my time to call people out for being disrespectful, even if I don't end up getting a response.

You know what? When I heard of this earlier today (while I was at work) it was on twitter. The first post I saw I clicked to find out more from the comments, and the first comment was "accused rapist" which pissed me off obviously.

Second post I saw was on my next break at work, by John Tavares paying his respect. First comment "at least he didn't abandon his team"

Seriously? It's gross what people are allowed to say out there in the name of "free speach" and yes I reported both of those comments but nothing will happen from that.

How many people read comments on tweets etc who may be young or just otherwise persuadable, a troll is a troll and bad comments should be dealt with IMO, but I know that's a slippery slope.

It just seems like the companies that run these social media apps..........don't give a f*** and well I can imagine it's quite the undertaking to manage every country, language, religion etc etc etc

Social media kinda sucks eh?

My favourite moments of Kobe wasn't any game of his, but those hilarious skits with Cabbie that went on for many years. It was just so fascinating to watch someone with Kobe's stature open up like that and play along with Cabbie's schtick for so many years.

If any of you haven't seen this, go on youtube and search "Cabbie + Kobe Bryant". It is some really funny stuff.

Cabbie was a mess when he spoke today. The pain in his voice put me in tears.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of very disturbed people in this world who take pleasure in making others miserable, probably due to their own misery. Also unfortunate that social media has now given them a massive platform in which allows them to do this with virtually no repercussions. It is what it is, I guess.

You think it's okay for people to trash someone who just died, who by virtually all accounts, was a loving father and husband, and was loved universally as not only as a great basketball, but also a great person?

There's something seriously wrong with you.
Please point out where I said I thought it was the right thing to do? If you read my post it clearly states that to tell someone that they should have their right to speak their mind taken away is a bad idea. But who am I kidding, this is a online forum.

Yes, just like you and me would have in a helicopter crash on top of Big Bear. Full investigation please.
Nah, if I died I wouldn't want my family's money to be wasted on something so trivial. There are more important things that require those precious dollars.

Yep, I heard that too. You just know that his relationship with Kobe was one of the things that he cherished the most in his life. Like how many people actually get to be that close to Kobe? It's not like Cabbie was a basketball player or anything, Cabbie was a media guy (sort of). I can imagine that he's forever grateful that a guy like Kobe was willing to put in so much time and effort to play along and eventually become really good friends with.

That's not what he was saying to the other guy. He disagreed with his opinion and then presented evidence to dispute that notion. Then the troll ran away like all trolls do.
