I have two theories:

Theory 1: NHL likes to pick the incident that attracts the most attention to set a precedent. So this would've been a fine or a 1-game suspension if leafs' haters didn't make a fuss out of it in social media.

Theory 2: George Parros of no clues what he's doing (this is the factual part, not the theory part), so he bases his decision on what he reads on social media (and that is, his choice of social media).

The NHL haven't set a precedent in their existence.

That’s because they prefer Rielly to have taken the moral high ground, the equitable way to deal with the situation. Unfortunately they also fail to recognize that this isn’t how hockey players think and behave. They get heated and go after you. They won’t think about making sure the other side sees you coming. They are going to take the shortest route to you. They also fail to realize the Grieg was skating away from Rielly towards his bench. Rielly isn’t going to speed up to give the guy that just showboated, the benefit of engaging head on. It’s such an asinine perspective that doesn’t reflect what actually happens on the ice.

Some of these clowns are not well in the head. Leaf fans should just make an equivalent site to the CalgaryPuck Forum and let this place die. Guarantee tons of these "haters" would try to sign up on a site like that - ragging on the Leafs is soothing for them, more so than supporting their own team.

Honestly Leaf mods should turf anyone on site. If it's good for other forums, it should also apply here. We don't need Golden Jet and his useless opinions, especially since we're not allowed to return the favor on the Sens board.

Comparing this to Hunter is downright ludicrous. Hunter was one of the biggest rats in the league and nearly decapitated Turgeon. Greig didn't even suffer a bruise. Big difference.
