Me too. Still seems obvious to me he should get the C
100% agreed. The guy has been thru it all, plus he handles the media well and has the respect and love from his teammates and fans.

Why would this be the case?
The cap rising 1 mil + Kessel's retention off the books almost covers the Rielly salary entirely. Trading Kerfoot would give them additional wiggle room. As would replacing Kase with a cheaper RFA next season
Whatever.Shut up. I never said Nylander was a bum. He has a lot of value.
Lol sure, I mean ideally he’d take rolling 1 year 750k deals like spezz…..Not really. If he gets injured and is out for a length of time they are screwed.... I would have done a 6x 6.5mill
What a great pick Burke ended up making that draft.
Because of TOR's God awful cap situation. Rielly's raise will no doubt stress the cap limits.
It's not that simple.
he's had his ups and downs, but he's arguably their best playoff performer. The Leafs need more guys who elevate their games when it matters, and losing Rielly would have been a nightmare to deal with. Plus he's just an insanely likeable guy
You have a bit of a history with your blind hatred of Nylander buddy boy.Shut up. I never said Nylander was a bum. He has a lot of value.
We probably need all that money + more if we're going to upgrade on those respective positions. They are spending around 8M on Kerfoot, Holl and Ritchie. All 3 have 1 year left on their deals. All 3 are tradable to some degree.
It's probable the Leafs do look at trading someone like Marner or even Nylander though... but it's not necessary.
It's not very complicated.
We are? I thought we were unanimously in a bad position with our cap.
I don't think that moving Holl/Dermott plus letting Kerfoot go all of a sudden makes the cap situation better. Campbell (or another goalie) needs to be signed too.

Everyone was fighting between Tavares and Matthews as captains...
...meanwhile, I was pumping Riellys tires to be the captain. It was an easy decision to me.
Nice to have Rielly staying. One of the few players on the team who has stepped up in the playoffs and appreciates what it means being a Leaf.
