Why was he benched in the third, or did he get injured. Even in the second, wasn’t a regular shift I thought.
The "overripe in the AHL" concept was a big thing in the late 90's early 00's, but back then, it was a completely different league. You had Bobby Holik, Ken Daneyko, etc, waterskiing behind players every game, so it was next to impossible to play until you put on weight and physically matured.
Today, that's not the case. It's way easier to play as a 20-year-old who weighs 175lbs.
Not saying the AHL is not useful, it can be when you need to work on specific skills (skating, etc). But for the guys with high-end talent whose only minus is size? It's not as important as it used to be.
You don't need to develop players like the Red Wings used to in the modern NHL.
My money is on Greig playing at least 60 games at the NHL level next year and having a Seth Jarvis/Dawson Mercer-like impact.
He was kept out for precautionary reasons. Why was he benched in the third, or did he get injured. Even in the second, wasn’t a regular shift I thought.
Doubt DJ is going to like those penaltiesDJ is going to love the Ridlier … he may make it hard to cut out of camp.
Entering his D+3 season … he may skip the AHL like Pinto, Jimmy, and Brady before him.
Ottawa got Ridly Greig from the Pageau trade - the other piece Ottawa got for Pageau was Kelven.
What's QDP? Had a notice one of my posts in here was deleted with reason being QDP...
No idea what I could have said that would get deleted.
Anyway hope he is good enough to play tonight but if not at least get healthy for the Fins on Monday.
Quoted deleted post. Not necessarily anything you did. What's QDP? Had a notice one of my posts in here was deleted with reason being QDP...
Pinto, Klevin, Boucher, I agree, but Greig was always skilled and perceived as such. It was pretty evident if you watched him play in his draft year too.Dorion’s vision here deserves a lot of credit - many here were critical of picks like Pinto, Klevin, Boucher and Greig when skilled players like Kaliyev or Silinger were available.
This teams top 6 is settled and needs a whole lot more of Dorion going “off the board with physicality ” than him setting for the consensus mid level skilled guys.

I never had an issue with the selection of Pinto, Klevin or Greig.

Are you commending the selection of Boucher over Sillinger?
Formenton will be trade for D and Greig will take his spot
I’m commending the selection to acquire elite 3rd liners vs guys for best suited for PP3.
I hope Boucher is the right guy … but we don’t need mid level first rounders waiting for injuries to become useful on PP2 - we need elite two way players capable of shutting down teams best players.
