I wouldn't say idiotic...it's actually quite impossible. Bottom line with Nash is he isn't earning his paycheck, and has not since joining the Rangers. His production in the playoffs, seemingly scoring goals that didn't appear too meaningful, didn't help the Rangers either. Is he garbage? Not at all. Is he a serviceable regular season top winger? On the Rangers, yes. In the league? Perhaps. He did help this team get to the playoffs, which is objective one and next season it will not be easy to get there. Winning the Cup is the ultimate goal, but realistically, only one team each season can achieve that. The team is stuck with Nash. Until there comes a point at which buying him out is more economical and productive than leaving him in the lineup (when he crosses that path of third line checking winger playing like a $2MM a year guy), he's a top six forward on the Rangers.
