Omg. Benning is nothing if not blunt and honest. He wasn't playing both sides. He truly believed he improved the team a great deal. He didn't. Being in contention for a top 5 pick was never in the cards. Ever. He constructed a team with no depth, that wasn't good when healthy and has paid the price. He has mis-evaluated players every step of the way.

Of course he believe he improved the team. He wouldn't make the moves if he didn't. But I don't believe that he was going all in for a playoff push this season. He didn't expect to be a bottom 3 team, nor a top 3 team. He likely wanted to attempt to recreate the magic they had last season while injecting even more youth into the team. Unlike many around here, I don't think that makes him a moron or idiot or whatever childish names people throw at him. That is a perfectly reasonable thing to do as management of an NHL team, especially when you are pressure from your boss to do so.

I really hope we're buyers at the deadline. We're going to need to strengthen so we don't have more performances like tonight in the playoffs.

Id prefer to be sellers cause this team aint going nowhere in the playoffs with or without a addition or two. Just no way we get past LA or ducks in a 7 game series

Vey again....

He was waived, was marginal in the AHL, recalled, no one wanted him, and now he's the extra attacker and on PP1.....Unreal.

Why do people who want to lose complain that the Sedins aren't playing enough? News flash, if you double shifted the Sedins you probably wouldn't have a loss here.

This is what you resort to now?

Wanting a good draft pick and wanting the coach to actually run the team in the right manner are not mutually exclusive.

This team is bad enough on its own—it would still be comforting to see a coach and GM show some competence.

I thought confusing the current lineup for old players was silly until I confused Hutton for Sergio Momesso

Basically the gist of it was
"I couldn't agree with you anymore Simmer"
"Right? If Im Benning you have to be asking"
"And its not just how often guys are being used, its where he's using them"
"And this is an every game thing too"
"He's all about his rhythm and roll..."
"Its 3 wins..."

Make my day.
I wonder what posters like DL44 and Jimson Hogarth are thinking right now.

Can't win 'em all, right guys?
It is all Gillis' fault

It is all Aquilini making the moves, Jim is just a repressed puppet.

Competing like this is great for prospects, who needs extra assets from trades

Etc

This is the team you wanted. Benning is such a great GM according to you
Bwa-ha ha

Not even close to a good try.

You guys are worried sick and I'm chilling. From day 1 I've said nothing but "I do t mind missing the playoffs as long as the effort is good"

Unfortunately too often the efforts been poor and that's on WD.
