Ice time distribution was good with the exception of Scheifele who was out there for 23 minutes.

Too much 5v5, PP, and PK time. Would love to see someone take some / all of that PK time away from him.

Couldn’t agree more. Keep him fresh for the offensive opportunities. We have a lot of capable guys for the pk.
That and figure out the trap that some teams play against us and we will start sailing again.

Stars were unable to get much of anything done - good D game even w/o Buff
On top of that, we scored 5 -
Nice game all around - liked Kuli, MattyP, Connor, Rosie, and Morrissey with anther great game.

Edit - Add Helle to the nice game list - omitted in error

Everyone, Exhale . . . .

Ideally Copp, since Lowry is the other center who kills PK minutes, with wingers like Tanev/Perreault imo. However, looking at the nhl website, Perreault doesn't PK at all. I wonder what's up with that? He's down to block shots, takes fewer minutes because he's thrown in the bottom/middle six all the time, and is generally pretty strong defensively.

Anyone have any statistical reasons as to why Matty P gets no PK time, or is it just Mo being a twat?

Quick thoughts....

Good win. Very good 1st and 3rd periods.

CSW - Had some good jump tonight, though Scheifele still seems a bit out of sorts with the puck. Still, they did a very good job vs. Seguin/Benn and nice to see Connor pot one. He was skating well tonight, and decent on the zone exits.

LLR - Solid game for this line, though a bit patchy. I really liked how Roslovic was playing by the third period. He has great speed and agility and good puck skills. His play on Little's PP goal was outstanding. Very good play to keep the puck in, good cycle work on that shift, and then a sublime feed to Little for the goal. Nice play by Laine on Myers' goal. Overall, Laine is playing pretty well in the D zone, but still is struggling a bit in the O zone. Missed a PP goal on a shot that he usually pots with great consistency.

PLT - Another really solid game. Perreault was outstanding. Lowry with another really strong game defensively. Tanev was aggressive and fast on the forecheck.

LCA - Good game for the 4th line. Copp really solidifies the line in the defensive zone. Appleton and Lemieux were fast on the puck and made good decisions overall.

44-8 They sagged a bit in the 2nd period at times, but were rock solid in the 3rd. Really liked Trouba's game again. Nice to see him rewarded with a couple of assists.

7-57 Myers had some really shaky times in his own zone in the 2nd, but was otherwise quite good. Chiarot was okay - didn't do anything terrible.

70-5 Another outstanding game from Kulikov. Hard to even realize that he's the same player that started the season with the Jets. Fast, solid with the puck, physical and good defensively. Morrow was fine.

Hellebuyck with a really solid game. This game could have gone south in the 2nd, but Hellebuyck was steady until the Jets got going again.

Might have to do with his chronic back problems. He's a demon forechecker, so maybe it's a positioning and/or skating thing. There's a guy on our BL team who was a prodigy as a teenager but due to back and knees now has a very hard time pivoting and skating backward.

Has Maurice made it clear why he plays Scheifele and Wheeler so much on PK? I find it hard to believe that role could not be filled by Copp/Lowry/Tanev/Roslo/Little/etc.

It's not like they're pumping out SH goals, are they? Seems like we're tiring them out for nothing.

Roslovic wasnt great either but that could be a bit of nerves and not much chemistry. I'm sure he will get another game on that line at least to see what he can do. He definitely makes some very nifty plays.

Not sure if this is still the case, but as of mid December, Scheifele and Wheeler were our best PK forwards by a mile.
