Not sure if this is still the case, but as of mid December, Scheifele and Wheeler were our best PK forwards by a mile.

Agreed. They are very good at it, but it adds too many minutes. No problem using them selectively on the PK when absolutely needed, but not as your regulars.

Kuli had another good game and Lowry was his usual self tonight too. Nice pass by Jack on the Little goal and 85 had a strong game too.
I also thought Trouba had a very strong game and of course Helle played very well.

Might have to do with his chronic back problems. He's a demon forechecker, so maybe it's a positioning and/or skating thing. There's a guy on our BL team who was a prodigy as a teenager but due to back and knees now has a very hard time pivoting and skating backward.

Yeah, he tends to get injured season to season so that's a possibility. Not sure it's one that would keep me from playing a guy on the PK though if his skillset is right for the job and it'd keep the stars like Scheifele and Wheeler fresher.

Maurice seems to like players who are fast and/or have a big reach on the PK to cut off passing lanes. It's one of the reasons I think he doesn't use Perreault there... not a good reach, but that's a bit of a guess.

Much better effort tonight. Really thought they outplayed the Stars by quite a margin. Helle had a fairly easy game, IMO.

I think if a coach worries about a player breaking and decide to use the player less because of it.

That is a problem.

A play that shows why Matty P is awesome happened this year. He picked up a loose puck in the slot, the shot was blocked to the half wall, and he hustled over and picked up the rebound, keeping the play alive.

That Wheeler attempt on empty net was one of the most pathetic things I've seen in hockey in awhile...you can say all the praises in the world about him as player, but he couldn't score even if the whole opposite team would be paid to let him score

I can't believe how shity those 2 refs were , we got a couple of late PP's but this game could have been over by the time they started watching BOTH teams , just horrible . I really thought that was one of Myers's best games of the season , maybe because he stole Buff's move and scored . Big 2 clean points against our division , lets get on a roll now boys .

Strongly disagree. I for one dont care seeing the 4th line playing 10 mins. if it means that the 2nd and the 3rd line play only 14 mins. while Scheif clocks 22 mins.

It's is a bit humorous how things go so much quieter when we win. It is like people are waiting/expecting/hoping for some type of epic collapse, but instead the team dusts it's self off after a setback or 2 and just keeps moving forward.
