If you get Kawhi and keep demar and Lowry you have a team that should make the finals with an punchers chance of winning the finals.
But your gonna have to mortgage the future for him,
On the other hand. If he nails you can trade Lowry and DeRozan on the offseason to recoup assets so it’s a risk you take

If he agrees to a long term contract, that's palatable. For one year, I wouldn't give up any one of those assets. MAYBE the 1st round pick...

Kawhis a top 5 player and OG will never be a top 5 SF. Im confused by the love for prospects when an obvious superstar is available.
You only have him for the one season most likely. It’d be a Hail Mary in hopes he ends up liking Toronto and the team, more than his apparent desire to play with the Lakers.
I’m personally for it, as with the current NBA landscape, might as throw caution to the wind and just go for it.
However, I understand why others think it doesn’t make sense

The problem with the one year window is that even if we make it to the finals, Golden State will be waiting. If you're going to give up significant assets for what would essentially be a rental, it would make more sense if there was at least a semblance of parity in the league.
I'd do the rental for a package that doesn't include our younger core pieces.

Leonard with Casey simply isnt a match. Also from the info I have heard about Nurse, makes me prefer him over Casey.

It looks great because Casey sucks.
Paul Jones just said on Sportsnet that the word with other GMs is that the Raps are serious contenders for him and likely the favourites.

Completely agree. As long as you aren't pulling a Brooklyn Nets and giving up multiple unprotected 1sts then I'm pretty much making anyone available for Kawhi. He is a free agent to be so he is very motivated to land that next big deal. East is wide open for the taking next season, let's get to finals.

Wouldn't surprise me if the guy pouted and sat out another season should he somehow get traded to the Raptors, a team that couldn't be any further from glitzy LA. Superstars like him want nothing to do with Toronto.
