There’s a simple way to overcome that and it’s to remove the max player salary cap or raise it to something like 50%of the cap.
The superstars will get paid but will probably have to be willing to go to teams that aren’t traditional big market teams to get paid

I don't feel a lot of optimism at making the finals because we are locked into this core. We can not really improve significantly. Other teams in our conference can. We can hope for some growth from players like Freddy, OG, Pascal and Jak but those are not stars. A lot would have to go our way to win 3 series. What? You think other teams don't view it as an opportunity to make some hay?

If the NBA were like wrestling, Adam Silver would probably be trying to force us all to like, I dunno, Sacramento or something.

Honest to go I love the NBA but some of the shit i that flies around in the players are is truly feels like it's scripted. Like I was watching ESPN's Keith Olbermann video "nobody is from LA" seriously that shit is actual gold. However it is so true, like you can tell the anguish that Masai has for the stuff goes on LOL.

They will be. Don’t underestimate them.

LeBron got whooped with a better Cavs team behind him than what the Lakers have. And right now the rumors I hear are that the Lakers could be interested in Carmelo once he splits with OKC. If that's the case, that makes the team worse, not better.

Apparently Masai could swing a deal for kawhi, which I don't get

What don't you get? I doubt we could resign him but if you look at our cap structure right now there is some sense in going all-in for one season and then blowing it all up if it fails. Almost impposible to blow it up right now and be bad enough for it to make any sense but next year most of our salary is expiring so you either win and lock him up with DD or let him walk and move off of KL, Ibaka and DD next off-season and tank in earnest. (any deal would probably see one of them going back tho, probably Kyle)

That all being said, it's a possibility but I wouldn't bet on it happening. Never know with Masai though.

That's true. If DD goes in the deal then it makes sense.

Really? I think that makes the least amount of sense tbh. We don't have depth behind Demar but we have solid depth behind Kyle and frankly, I wouldn't be at all interested in moving Demar for a player that himself will probably walk in a year. If I'm moving Demar, it's for picks and prospects. Kyle on the other hand is old and you can't really expect good futures in return, plus I think he fits into what SAS likes to do. You'd also be throwing in a guy like OG. Personally I don't know if we have what it takes to land him

Analysis | How exactly will the Kawhi Leonard situation end? And other lingering NBA offseason questions.
The Toronto Raptors also generated buzz as a potential destination for Kawhi Leonard. With LeBron James out of the Eastern Conference, perhaps Raptors President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri is willing to swing for the fences and move DeMar DeRozan or Kyle Lowry in such a deal.

Further complicating the situation is Leonard’s health, which, until he’s on a court in a live-game situation, will probably remain a mystery.

Wouldn't work salary wise and not nearly enough going to the Spurs.

Well apparently they wanted Kuzma, Hart, Ingram, 2 1sts and 2 pick swaps. We could never match that, but maybe Lowry + Powell + Poeltl/Siakam + picks could interest them? 2 young bench guys with upside, Lowry could either be a good starter for them or be moved for more assets, and then they also get a boatload of picks probably as well. Probably is not enough still, but at least the Raptors look like the type of team that could get places.

PG: FVV
SG: DeRozan
SF: Leonard
PF: Ibaka
C: JV
Bench: Anunoby, Miles, Wright, Poeltl/Siakam, Richardson and the rest likely comes through FA/905/Summer League.

The Spurs could've had Lowry for free a year ago when he was a free agent and they didn't want him. Doubt they do now.
