Raptors Discussion: REPORT: Raptors trade DeRozan, Poeltl, Protected 1st to Spurs for Leonard, Green

I just dont know how I feel about trading DD for 1 year of a guy who doesnt want to be here.

If Leonard doesnt want to be here..move on and find a better long term solution in a trade for DD.

Unless..they go and flip Leonard to LAL so that Lakers feel better about sending good young players back since it isnt in conference?

Then the question becomes...how good are Kuzma, Ingram and Ball?

He's apparently not going to have a choice

He'll just feign the quad injury and go on the IR for most of the year - this reeks of desperation from Masai. If he sells the farm for 1 year of Kawhi and it all falls apart on us, the torches and pitchforks in this city will be out for blood.

There has to be something else to this..... How dumb can you be to trade Demar (the guy who loves this city and has made this team into a yearly contender) for a guy who will be here for max 1 year and doesn't even want to play here. My god.

Here's hoping to a catch. Everything you listed are valid points. Speaking of points, also your all time leader in points...

Kuzma and Ingram are ok. Ingram with a high ceiling, but not much tangible production to point at. They would be slightly overrated, IMO, in terms of what they are\can be.

Hart and Ball can be contributors this year, and are the ones I'd identify and go for in trade. Ball is also likely acquirable given the father\Lebron\need to have the ball.

I tweeted this out earlier. If we trade for Leonard. He's leaving the second he's able to. And I wouldn't be surprised he gets"hurt" at some point and plays a total of 0 games for the raps. Didn't Alonzo Mourning refuse to report to the raptors? And don't try and tell me it's a different situation. The base issue is the same.

Edit: yes I'm F******* bitter. The NBA took our expansion money and screwed us on the expansion rules and the first drafts. NBA players general never want to play here. Everyone worth a damn wants to leave. Or are here only for money And leave in the end. I like DeMar and he actually wants to be here and I feel bad for him

True - they all want to leave and then when they look back in the twilight of their careers, they wish they had stayed. (Yes, I'm talking about you Vince, Tracy, Mighty mouse, etc.)

It's sad - DD wants to be here and we want to ship him out for a guy who is just waiting for UFA.

Probably didn't want to give up both, which they would undoubtedly ask for.

Lmao. Yes, hockey and basketball are the same.....Can't wait to see you compare this deal to the Kessel deal.

We'll file this one away until we see the final deal(s) play out.

It's ok to admit you were wrong - there's no shame in that, ya know.

Realistically I think the Lakers would give you one of Hart/Kuzma, one of Ingram/Ball, and a 1st round pick.

This seems weird....

Wouldn't surprise me if Masai turned around and dealt him to the Lakers (Deng contract, Kuzma, Ingram\Ball), allowing the Lakers\Kawhi\Lebron to get what they want, and Pop to save face.

Also satisfies this wretched fanbase who wanted a rebuild after being swept anyway. Same people crying tears for Demar right now, btw.
This is actually a good point, maybe the Lakers would move those young pieces for Kawhi if it wasn't to a team in their own Conference? Hmm...

I'm very casual about basketball but this definitely seems weird.

Is there no way to keep DD and still acquire Kawhi?

If this trade ends up NOT including DD now, it'll be even more messed up given what he streamed on IG.

Basically, Masai can't turn back now.

I'll give you defence, but he can shoot in the regular season just fine, but not in the playoffs when it really matters and we need him to show up.
He's actually not a great shooter, he just takes a ton of shots. I don't know for sure, but I bet he wasn't even in the top 40 for FG %

If Masai is stupid enough to trade DD for a player who he hasn't got a commitment from to at least show up and play, he deserves to be fired, even after all the good he's done for the franchise.

That said, I can't remember the last time Masai lost a major trade, so there's that.

The Raptors litterally just won 59 games and we just upgraded our best player position.
If Khawi signs with L.A over Toronto he is leaving $50,000,000 on the table.

So many scenarios could play out; including FLIPPING Khawi. so let's wait before anyone calls Massai stupid.

This is what we know

1) We were not going to beat Boston with Derozan and co.
2) Khawi is a top 5 player in the game and gives us a chance to go for it. If you can get a top 5 player; you do it.
3) We can actually flip Khawi to L.A if we choose.
4) If it doesn't work out; we start the rebuild earlier!!! This is so important.

I personally think this is brilliant. Massai has never lost a deal. I think he really proved him self. If all he did was added in 1 of Sikiam/OG this is a huggeeeeeee win in my view. People are being a tad emotional.

Maybe you should read all my posts before getting emotional and jumping on me.

Or even just read the entire post that you quoted first.

You're calling Massai stupid and that he should be fired when you don't know the facts. That is literally the definition of being emotional not logical
