The Mika line is playing more like the 2nd line right now, and I guess thats OK if the French Toast line is cookin. But they need to produce more 5 on 5.

Still somewhat early but impressive this team is 5-2 considering Mika, Chytil and Wheeler have yet to score.

Have been pleasantly surprised about Jonathan Quick's play in his 2 games so far, especially after this preseason; he'd been solid. You need about 25 points in the standings from your backup goalie. He's gotten the Rangers 4 pts so far; only 21 more points to go LOL

I have been a supporter of Lafreniere as much as anyone on here through his career, supported him getting more higher profile roles in the lineup. This offseason/training camp/preseason, my patience was starting to wane.

This will probably come back to bite me but I'm glad he has had the start to the season he's had; looking like a useful top 6 forward. I don't think he'll ever be the kind of player one expects a no. 1 overall draft choice to be, but after his trials and tribulations (some of which have been self-inflicted, some of it not), if he becomes a staple in the top 6, becomes a 70ish point player going forward, the Rangers would probably take it. This coaching staff seems to have gotten more out of him than the previous 2 coaching staffs combined. There's a long way to go this season, but hopefully, Lafreniere continues to show progress.

Does NHL.com have the Official League stats. THey have Fox as a plus minus 0 . He scored 2 pts and there was only 1 PP. Obviously he was not 0.

Mr. Quick, I apologize.
I didn't see your post, but prob wasn't pretty. No worries, YOU weren't the only one! Read many many posts deeming him washed up. All along I was thinking that........a great goaltender with all of his accomplishments, that IF he KNEW he was really washed up, wouldn't he hang them up? Wouldn't the Rangers have scrambled to find another? We'll never forget that he broke our hearts, but can forgive and allow him to make it up to us. Quite the competitor, always has been and always will be. Just look at his lack of size, always HAD to be.

That's why I think all goals off skates should be disallowed. Too much is left to interpretation & the one thing we know is NHL refs can't be trusted to get it right.
Refs got it right I think, call on the ice was a deflection off the skate and a good goal, Toronto then effed it up and saw it was soooo clearly a kick that they had to overturned it. Complete joke. Used to be that you needed clear evidence to overturn the on ice call but that's BS now, Toronto makes a call regardless of what the call on the ice was.

Dolan's FU to the NHL was still the right move imo lol

Lets face the possibility that it might have been a different result last night, if a certain Mr. McGreatness were playing. Not impolying he would have scored 4 goals (although, maybe) but if he scores his usual 1 and possibly setting up someone else, its quite the different game. Or, am I NOT giving our Rangers enough credit? He is THAT good now, isn't he?

Laviolette might be the best X's and O's and strategic coach the Rangers have ever had. The only other one that I think might come close is Tom Renney and even then that is a reach.

He wasnt, so… We can “what if” it all we want. If our 1st line was playing to their ability or a puck or two that hit the post went in, we might have won by 5 or 6.

Was he not on the ice for his goal or his assist ?

Still looks sloppy in some areas. Edmonton tried to play a fast and in your face style…sending two guys after the puck to take away space and create turnovers. Rangers could do a better job against that style and it’d start by supporting the puck carrier just a bit more. Also saw several moments of confusion in the defensive zone w/ switches and who has what player. More just signs to me that they’re still working on figuring these parts out.
Zibanejad lines problem is just that someone needs to put the puck in the net. They make some changes but don’t finish. If Kreider and zibanejad are going to struggle with that then they should start setting up Kakko

Fox didn't 'miss' or flub his shot, he took a wrister one timer and buried it high. The speed of a wrister one timer isn't great, no speed boost on it as the momentum of the pass is lost due to the puck briefly sitting on the stick in a neutral position. On a one time slapper, the puck's only movement after the pass is forward as the shooter's stick is slamming forward before the puck even arrives so some of the pass speed is converted to shot speed. It's kind of like comparing a full swing of a baseball bat versus a push bunt, just you're bunting in a regular swinging stance (not as extreme of course).

The key is Fox got it off asap and nailed the top 10% of the net. Big bombs ain't always it Mikachu

Creighton Schneider absolutely one of the 3 stars of the game.

This was me waking from my slumber 3 different times, one of which was the Schneids goal:

been really impressed and so far surprised that some caps fans said he is not a great coach for younger players. we have been waiting 4 years to see Chytil/Lafreniere or Chytil/Kakko get some starts 4 on 4.
