been really impressed and so far surprised that some caps fans said he is not a great coach for younger players. we have been waiting 4 years to see Chytil/Lafreniere or Chytil/Kakko get some starts 4 on 4.
I don't think the vets bought in to his system in Washington, most of them had played under Trotz a few years prior and were not interested in that shit again, so the kids had no shot on Washington. Lavi coming here right after hands-off 'systems are for wimps' GG helped, players (vets) were actually looking for more structure after last year's playoff debacle and bought in from the start

Quick - great
Miller - Starting to become noticeable
Schneider- big game for him
Wheeler line - best of season
Laf - continues to do his thing, great sign
Mika - needs one
Fox - being foxy as hell
Bread - Fresh
Trocheck - Quietly very effective in this system
Trouba - Saves

Refs/NHL - can we please have some consistency with the kicked in goals?

Better yet let’s just allow or disallow all goals off skates and take the subjectivity out of the equation. It’s a f***ing joke.

Calgary kicked in a goal against the Rangers last year in the game Laf won it in OT at the garden and it was allowed. How does Cuylle kick in a goal with his trailing foot without lifting his skate from the ice? lol this league is such a joke
It was an absolutely horrible call. Total incompetence. I don't know which league is worse. NHL or NFL?

I just hope Laviolette sees under the bonnet more than Gallant. 1st line hasn't produced anything, but they haven't been awful. Don't mess up the lines now, let it stew.
I'm with you on that. Stew baby, they're winning with little production since Kreids good start. 1st line is tricky business though. They mostly match up vs other 1st lines, so as long as they're not giving up much, then no harm, no foul. Mika looks off, fumbling a lot, but his back checking and general defense is 2nd to none, imo. He'll get going, as soon as that 1st one goes in.

He wasnt, so… We can “what if” it all we want. If our 1st line was playing to their ability or a puck or two that hit the post went in, we might have won by 5 or 6.
Okay, take it easy. We're on the same side. What if..........you replied, "yeah Larry, had he played it could've been different, fortunately he was sidelined.

I want what I want

Both of these were goals allowed against us, but Cuylle's gets overturned.

As soon as that goal was scored, I knew it wasn't going to count. 3-0 with some time left in the third. The game would be effectively over if it counted so Toronto didn't want that. I really do believe if there was like a minute left in that game that the goal would have stood. Here's the Mangiapane one btw.

I also wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a directive by Drury in his early discussions with Laviolette. Upper management sets the plan, coaches enact it.

Does NHL.com have the Official League stats. THey have Fox as a plus minus 0 . He scored 2 pts and there was only 1 PP. Obviously he was not 0.
It is possible to get a point and not get a plus. If he made the first pass and then went to the bench before the goal is scored. Don't know if that was the case though.

The key is Fox got it off asap and nailed the top 10% of the net. Big bombs ain't always it Mikachu
Location and release

Zibs hits it as hard as he can but has no control. I’m sure the coaches see it.

Our assistants are amazing imo. The whole package works well

Feelin' good on a Wednesday
Missed the 2nd half of this game, early flight this morning. Laf continues to score goals, and starting to look like that 1stOA we’d hoped. I saw the Foxy Goal, and it was Foxy, Well not the usual Foxy but it was still Foxy

Did we get outplayed most of the 3rd? seems to be that way. The period I saw thought we looked good. Anyway, I shall be reporting from Orlando FL this weekend and next week, @FultonReed you still down there?

I hate airports.

Oh and better late than never…

I live in Orlando (& have since 1997) so if you need any info let me know. MCO is a terrible airport but it's actually gotten a little bit better security wise.

Have you ever been to Fuji Sushi on Lee Road?

It's the best in town. If you go say hi to Chef A.B. for me and if you like octopus get the "Monte" roll (my last name). It's a spicy octopus roll topped w/spicy tuna, guacamole & mango.

Kreider leads the team with 5 goals although he wasn't good last night. Somebody should inform Mika that the season has started. Hopefully just another slow start from him.

Thats buying him slack though it shouldn't really excuse his play 5v5.

I thought last night was the first time he's been really horrible this season (it was one of the worst games I remember him playing, ever) but he hasn't been good at ES at all this year. He's bugged me the most of the 3 on his line because its been flashes of pretty good mixed in between a lot of the same half assed gliding, non committal, sleepy play that he tends to fall into.

He's been great on the PP and I've mostly liked his efforts on the PK so there is that.

If I'm changing anything in the top 9, I'd flip him and Cuylle for now until he gets his shit together. He shouldn't have seen a shift after mid way through the 2nd. He was out sucked by maybe only Goodrow who desperately needs to take a seat but I think he's probably gotten the Marc Staal seal of immunity on this team.

Hahaha. I wasn’t trying to come off antagonistically. My apologies. Context and nuance can be a bitch in hastily written word. My point is just that ”what ifs” dont do much for me. Maybe if McJesus had played they would have won. He IS the best player in the league. No question. But maybe we would have upped our game and won even more convincingly. That’s the thing. It’s a can of worms that can go on and on and on. But yeah had McDavid played it COULDVE been different.

Someone in NY doesn’t want Cuylle scoring more goals than Laf or Kakko.

would be even better if we didn't cave in the 3rd.

It'd be better if we had a 4th line that wasn't legitimately one of the worst lines in hockey.

You guys need to realize that most of the caving happens when they are playing. The 1st line (mostly Kreider) decided to join in on the festivities last night but that isn't a common occurrence. The 4th line has been an issue since game 1 and will continue to be one until changes are made there.
