Meh, not great, pretty tough categories. I had a little fun with a run on goalies (I remembered all the people who were picking goalies for a >points category last time, figured I'd try it).

Whiffed on Rakell who had *checks notes* 7 GOALS CAREER HIGH!!!!

And then whiffed on Gary Roberts, who scored waaaaaaaaaaaay more points than I thought (was thinking because he missed time he'd be less, but he only missed 1 season and was a very high scorer - oh and HE TOPPED OUT AT 7 GOALS TOO!!!!!)

This was much better, good ol' relying on ex-Canucks strategy, haha! Although, a couple more ex-Canucks would have helped me even more (Steve Weeks, Richard Brodeur, John Garrett, Garth Snow)...

Not Puckdoku, but I tried filling every square with ex-Canucks for today's Immaculate Grid, got pretty close:

If Owen Nolan had worked for CGY, that would have been funny, since he PTO'd with VAN at the end of his career, and I tried Ronning for LAK, but he (like Nolan) was only in the 800s. A shame. As for Roenick, just couldn't think of a SJ/VAN 1000 point scorer :dunno:

Ahhhh, disaster on that final row, of course!

Whiffed on Doug Lidster, I thought he had some seasons with higher assist totals, but he topped out at 51, and all of those higher-point seasons were with VAN, not NYR...

Happy with some of the pulls for 100+ playoff games, though, McCarty and Murphy are good ones! :D

Lol, this one was fun, as expected (JFresh guest puzzle, which means-

-Jack Johnson is correct for all 9 squares!

Anyhoo: ........... "2010 Olympics, Played............... PLAYED.............. SO NOT MIKE SMITH!!!" :banghead:

Whiffed on the next square with Steen also - was he randomly hurt, or did Team Sweden do a dumb in 2010? (Edit: Oh, I guess the '10 Olympics were before he broke out... booo)

Also, looking at the numbers: I think the Stanley Cup Winner / MacKinnon teammate category is broken... Georgiev, Stastny, Donskoi, Rodrigues, IGINLA, DROUIN???? Point me to these guys' rings... :whaaa?:

UGGGGHHH, another one that fell apart at the last second. Waste of 3 solid one-team players!

My miss was Jeff Woywitka, pretty sure that's not the first time I've picked him for EDM, forgetting of course that he didn't ever play for them because he was only their property during the lockout!

I just NOW realized that you want to get the uniqueness to a minimum, ha.

Had a score of 79 before selecting the 3 of the most obvious answers in the final row. Now I know!

Not bad at all considering the difficulty of getting lower scores on 1000+ point scorers, and especially the <1000GP/1000+ pts one, kinda surprised I got it at all. I figured my best bet was guessing players who scored at prolific rates but had short careers, but aside from Orr (who turns out to be incorrect, only got 915 :eek2:) and Lemieux, Lafontaine was the only one I figured might work... (Didn't think Bossy, or Mogilny with his 990(!!) games would work!)

It's absolutely shocking how few players have played for DET and MIN, thought Merrill was a pretty safe pick, turns out he's the third most well known! :dunno:

Had some fun with the >1000GP one though, haha! Just, what was the most random name I could think of who for sure played a game for MIN/CGY, good stuff! :D

9/9 with 56 uniqueness.

I tried and tried and tried but couldn't think of any answer other than Vanek for DET/MIN.
I went with Merrill specifically because I was anticipating Stacy Roest having a high %, judging from my picking of him the last time DET/MIN came up, but it ended up even worse!

Managed to make my most unique player selection today, for the playoff games played/penalty minutes selection. As of right now no more than 3 people have selected him.

For difficulty, I went with non-active players for the bottom row. Handful of Devils connections (kinda):

- Greg Andrusak - Leafs #8/9 D who suddenly had to play in the 2000 playoffs (against the Devils) due to injuries.

- Lyle Odelein - He hated head coach Robbie Ftorek so much that Odelein requested a trade away from a Stanley Cup contender in 2000. Devils dealt him to Phoenix where he'd have a short stint.

- Mike Van Ryn - refused to sign with the Devils. Case was a side story as the Devils were en route to the 2000 Cup. Since I was bitter, I found it fitting that Van Ryn only appeared in a handful of playoff games in his career. But he did win a Cup as an assistant coach on the Blues.

- Troy Crowder - briefly a Devils enforcer who made a name for himself with a couple fights against Bob Probert. Detroit must have been impressed as well and they signed Crowder to a Group I offer sheet. New Jersey would end up getting compensated with Randy McKay (plus Dave Barr) who would be a decent cog on the 1995+2000 Cup squads.

Ugh, awful result, I should have been able to get those 2 squares, but for some reason, I thought Wade Flaherty played for DAL (maybe confused because he and Irbe were a tandem in SJ, and I thought both played for DAL at some point?), and then I picked Peter Schaefer for OTT/100+ goals, which seems odd, surely he cracked 100 goals, he was a pretty good scorer for a number of years, right?

.... right?

I missed the bottom-left square first with Klatt (he topped out at 45, also quite irksome, but whatever), but I was fairly sure he scored 20+ goals, so I just picked him again...

Bah, I got greedy with the last square. Bruce Driver was captain of the Devils for one season. I thought he might have eeked past 100 goals but he finished with 96.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::biglaugh: Here it is, the absolute worst...

... and it turns out I have basically 0 gauge for who has reached that mark:

[1 team/200W]: John Gibson (188 :pullhair:)
[NYI/.915%]: Brent Johnson (wrong on both counts, somehow him fighting DiPietro made me think he played for NYI at some point? IDK... .904% career also :dunno:)
[200W/.915%] Khabibulin (.907)
[USA/.915%] DiPietro (I thought this was the theme, except the last row!!! He's not even close to .915 though!!!)
[200W/3+ teams] Dan Cloutier (ooooof, talk about a shorter peak than I thought! :surrender)

(edit after looking at the stats):

Wait, Denis Potvin and Mike Bossy both played in goal at some point???? :amazed:
Also, I thought of Kevin Poulin, but I remember so many times he'd signed with other teams, I figured for sure he got games with others...

Would have picked Nokelainen or Hagman if I knew that... oh well. Picked Kapanen mostly because he was one of my favourite players, and I couldn't resist :P

Blew the last square on Maxim Afinogenov, who played way more games than I figured! :amazed:

I actually didn't come up with a single player that would have been correct (Semin and Daze played too many games as well, Magnus Arvedson didn't get enough points). Usually, I don't go to "really good scorers playing right now" for Puckdoku, so I missed all the obvious choices

I had under 1.0% uniqueness for six answers. I missed the last square as well. I went with Dackell, who scored exactly 250 NHL points but played over 600 games.
