Well, now that I've had my two best games ever, here's my worst!

-Got Doug Wickenhesier and Brian Lawton confused (VAN/COL)
-Got Jason Jaffray scoring his first NHL goal against them confused with him playing for them (VAN/ANA)
-Got Cale Hulse confused with Rene Corbet (CGY/COL) - at this point, being 0/3, I start taking the biggest swings possible
-Nailed Leclerc
-Josh Holden for VAN/WJC Gold - X
-Greg Nemisz for CGY/WJC Gold - X
-Friberg - wayyyyy more people remember him than I thought!
-Nailed Holos (Figured a Norwegian player who barely saw the NHL would be a good SHL pick)
-Got Johan Larsson confused with Jacob Larsson, and we're done here :help:

Yeah, this was tough.

I did get 7/9. For the last column, I figured Markus Naslund and Mats Sundin were answers and neither was. I did get Iginla correct.

That's a nice little diagonal swoosh of incorrectness!

[TOR/Capt] Lanny McDonald (I have no idea who any of the Leafs' captains were before Gilmour, took a swing)

[VAN/DET] Drew MacIntyre (I remembered him being traded between these teams, but he never got a game in for DET )

[PHI/HHOF] Derian Hatcher (Was aiming for someone not-obvious, picked someone not-in-the-HHOF instead )

Happy with my pulls on Don Lever (not my era, but remember him in the lists of past VAN captains), and Pavel Bure (not many, I'm sure, remember he captained FLA at one point, and that he was inducted a few years ago)

Welp... I got Dennis Wideman confused with Dennis Seidenberg, and Filip Kuba confused with Pavel Kubina, and that % on Grahame and Dafoe are waaaaay too high, wtf... but other than that, this went greeeeeaaaaat! :help:

I'm very proud of this one, even though those Goc and Bernier scores suck! The 10+ playoff goals / >40 playoff games square is very tough, and I feel I got kind of lucky, because I recently got an incorrect answer for a playoff stat using Cammalleri, and remembered being shocked at how few playoff games he played, because he always juuuust missed his teams going on deep runs, except for the '10 Habs.

[NYI/500+ A] Sillinger (thought I was being clever picking him for a stat category, but was off by about 200 assists :eyeroll:)

[NYI/1000+ P] Muller (959, would have worked for 500+ assists :pullhair:)

[BUF/60+ Playoff Points] Brian Campbell (44 :pullhair::pullhair:)

[500+ A / 60+ Playoff P] Kent Nilsson (422 & 52 :pullhair::pullhair::pullhair:)

Nailed another 0 game, and I believe this is my best score ever, with none of the picks over 0.5%! :amazed: That last pick [TBL/50+ PIMs] took a while, wasn't sure if I was remembering Fedoruk on TBL, or Fedotenko (both were Flyers also). 3 hits for the drinking game! :neener:

This is one of the hardest things Puckdoku has ever put out, wow! How many people know players who de-committed to an NCAA school after playing for them to go to the OHL? Can't work the other way around as far as I know, or the NCAA eligibility is gone...

I actually mis-read the top right category, thought it was "NCAA/WHL", and I picked Kevin Connauton, because I remember him de-committing from college hockey to go to the Giants, but he played for a CCHA team, so I don't even think THAT would have counted!:help:

Raymond was just a guess on the basis of knowing he played in the Spengler Cup!

This is a normal day of Puckdoku for me; have some really good picks (with mostly former Avs), then proceed to either jump the gun on a former Av (Parros) or just draw a blank and give in on someone I know will be a popular pick (Briere)

Oooof, roughest score on a 9/9 for me in a LONG time... not sure what I was thinking on the BOS/SJS square, I had Shields, Boyes, Iafrate and Norton on my list, but thought Primeau was the best pick  I've also used Jillson before, but I forgot about him for some reason...

CBJ/WSH is tough, but if I had thought about it longer, I could have pulled Lepisto, Glencross, Carlsson or Beech...

CBJ/SJS is nightmarish, though if I had dug deep into the ex-Canucks part of my brain, I should have been able to pull Lane Pederson... bleh

Lol, wtf was this? First of all, I did not realize that Puckdoku doesn't allow you to select players who haven't played an NHL game, which led me to confuse Ivan Fedotov with Ivan Prosvetov, who never played in the KHL...

Then I tried picking Kirill Koltsov, who didn't show up, and Alexander Khoklachev, who I couldn't get to show up, but whom I see was picked many times (0.6%)... ok?

Finally, I settled on Sergei Tolchinsky instead, but he was never drafted! :pullhair:

First time playing. Wasn't too hard, but I have no idea how you all pull random players I have never heard of lol. What does Uniqueness mean in the context of this game? I had a low uniqueness so I guess I picked all the obvious answers?

"Uniqueness" is calculated by adding the percentages of people who picked the same player as you together. So theoretically, the lower the score the better, but that depends if you even want to play that way. It's arguably a challenge in its own right to nail the most popular selections and get the highest (i.e. least unique) score.

I guess the premise of this thread was to "remember some guys", so that also points to going the more random route, but it's fine, no one is really seriously competing or comparing. We have fun here :D

So, I don't know exactly when the KHL came to exist, but it was definitely after Vadim Sharifijanov played for Vancouver:ha::pullhair:
The rest was quite easy this time, plenty of former Avs-legends like for example Vitali Kolesnik and Andrei Mironov:nod:

Managed to crack a uniqueness score of less than 10 for the first time. This one was too easy though, given that I'm from Western Canada and stat watch the KHL

I could feel the failure coming on this one... nailed all 6 of the bottom and middle squares, with only a 3 uniqueness, but that WPG row was full of ???

My miss was on Jiri Slegr, I figured he was undrafted because he came into the league at a time where Czech players often were... oh well

Hm, all things considered, I did pretty well here... Love that Brodeur, Poulin and Essensa worked. Generally I avoid 80s/early 90s goalies for anything other than wins, but even then, it was risky with some of these picks...

Playoff goals for the Panthers is obviously tough, unless you go for their most recent run and take the hit on uniqueness by picking Tkachuk / Verhaeghe / Barkov. I'm sad that I thought of Lindsay, but picked Mellanby instead, who had 3 in '96, but has scored 5+ elsewhere... :whatever:

Despite my join date, I don't stand a chance on Panthers from the 90's, had to go for a recent one:dunno:

I managed to get two players without picture today, both in 2000-01 column. Esa Pirnes with the Kings and Tommy Westlund with the Canes.
