Right. I forgot. The only player available on the Stanley Cup champs is Ritchie. Because everybody else is in the top 23 players of the NHL, so there needs to be adds. Which add do you want for Bunting? Quinn, Krebs or Peterka? Or is Buffalo’s 2022 1st enough to make up the chasm in value?
I doubt Buffalo does any of those, but they are closer than the Miller one.

Alexander Barabanov could be rented to Toronto. He's pretty well solidified himself as a capable middle six winger with playmaking ability and he's cheap at a mil. Toss the Sharks a 2nd if they're out of it and I'm sure they'd take a contract back to make it work.

I know he's gone off in San Jose but a 2nd is steep, it also didn't work out in Toronto & you'd probably be better off just extending him, unless of course you could pull a 2nd.

It didn’t work out because he wasn’t given the sort of opportunity needed for him to establish himself. He has now so if you put him in a similar position then there’s reason to expect success that he didn’t get the first time around.

I know leafs fans don't like the guy and probably won't agree, but Ben Chiarot would fit a role for them.

Toffoli after the playoffs said the second Muzzin was out they knew they were going to win the series. Need some more crease clearers and sandpaper.

Chiarot is that guy you hate to play against but love on your team. Leafs could absolutely use a physical presence on D and the more I watch Holl, the more I want to burn my eyes out and look for a competent replacement. I want the Leafs to make a move for Manson (ideally) If not, then Chiarot. I don't think he's worth a 1st to be quite honest, but if that's what it's going to take I want Dubas to get it done. You gotta give this core the best shot to win, our window is now and I don't know how long it'll be open for. I don't like the guy because he plays on the Habs, I admit I have a bias. But I also know how much I absolutely hated him in our series, which probably means he's an effective player.

Although a long shot but I would like Hertl
He made it clear he'll be testing the market

I think in Matthews line he can add some skill and size

My guess is they'll want to acquire a steady 3rd pairing Dman who plays the right side. Holl hasn't been good this year and Liljegren is inexperienced.

A luxury would be a winger who can add some secondary scoring. However, Mikheyev will be making his season debut this week or next, so if he can produce that may negate that.

The Leafs don't have a need for another middle six winger.

RD would be a priority... middle or bottom pairing, preferably with some size, skating ability and physicality. Some names thrown around that the Leafs could have interest in, include; Mayfield, Lyubushkin, Manson...

You could make an argument to upgrade the top six LW's... though Bunting has 19 points in 29 games, and is looking increasingly like a good fit, and Kerfoot has 16 points in 29 games. It's reaching the diminishing point of returns, in making a trade for such a player.

Maybe. I think Barabanov would fit pretty well on the Leafs as I think he's better than some of the options they've been running with but there certainly won't be some huge push from Toronto to take a run there. Barabanov just makes sense because he's cheap too. Getting an RD though is going to be a tough one for Toronto. They typically come at a premium and Toronto doesn't have a lot of space and expendable assets to make something like that happen without going to the bargain bin.

Toronto trades Future Considerations to bring back Micheal Hutchinson after losing him to waivers.

Barabanov has had a good season, but I just don't see where he fits. He's not replacing anyone in the top six. Kampf and Kase have played very well together and won't be replaced... Ritchie has been decent with them. Spezza and Simmonds aren't coming out. Mikheyev and Engvall both PK for us as well, plus the utility of Engvall can play C, which Barabanov doesn't do PK, or C. It doesn't make sense to take Ritchie and Simmonds out of the lineup, for the physical role that they play, and Barabanov wouldn't replace that. Honestly, I just don't see him having a spot at all.

Having a playmaker on your 3rd line is very useful for playoff teams but I do see where you're coming from.

Leafs are in double Jeopardy having thrown a lot of picks for not much in playoff payoff. You trade your first and second but then don't go far, it's a good young, cheap player you need when all these sweat heart deals blowup next year.

Yeah. With zero cap space, and almost no draft picks left this year, they could totally make a big splash. Probably some BIG name player, who always dreamed of being a Leaf. :)

You make it sound like it's impossible to move money around.

As for draft picks

It's only this year where they are missing picks and even then they have their 1st and 2nd this year.

They have all their picks next year except their 7th.

They aren't short on assets at all
