Let's hope he plays top 4 in the WC after this run. I am assuming the Slovakian team will be very similar to the Olympic roster, right? And they barely played him at the Olympics.

50% similar, couple key players from the Olympic team will be missing, on paper the team will be weaker than the one on OGs, but then again, let's see what Ramsay gets out then.

Incredible playoff run for an 18-year old. Really curious where he plays next year. I don’t think there is much more to gain from staying in Slovakia.

I think he should go to ahl to get used to NA style of hockey for 1 year and go to NHL next year

I keep flip flopping between him and Jiricek as to who the better D man will be.
I want my Devils to take one of them ( if either are still there) .
In the very very rare circumstance they are both there, which if the two would you choose ?
I’d rather have the more defensively sound guy but??
What are his strengths in his game ? Weaknesses ? What’s his floor and ceiling based off his talent ? Any comparisons you guys can think of ?
Thanks in advance for anyone answering . Sorry , I just haven’t watched enough of him to make my own take on him .

I think Nemec being almost ppg player in playoff makes him easy N1 def this year

But the Slovakian league is much weaker than the Czech league, so Jiricek wasn't going to do that regardless even if he was better.
Still, Nemec was ppg in the series against Zvolen and mainly Slovan, which is probably comparable level to an average czech league game

you make it sound like czech league is same level as KHL. czech league is better than slovakian league but not that big difference.

Slovakian league is weaker tho the difference isn't as big as you think and strongest teams like Slovan or Nitra would do pretty well in Czech league

Just think about it ppg in ohl playoff for defender is pretty big deal in DY now Nemec got that in league that is much stronger than any chl league (Slovakian 2nd league is actually around the level of chl leagues)

At the start of the season jiricek was little bit better than Nemec but while he was injured Nemec was making huge progress and now he is clearly ahead of jiricek

People are here being critical of his production because of the Slovak league. Yet the 2 records he broke were held by Marian Hossa and Lubomir Visnovsky. One NHL star and one good player that had a long career. That's quite the achievement. I have him as my second ranked player this year. Upside slightly lower than Jiricek but for everything else, advantage, Nemec.

Best U21 season offensively for a defenceman in the Slovak league (PPG) plus a record playoffs for defenceman of any age. Combined with his D-1 year at the age of 16 which is 5th all-time in PPG for U21 defencemen. Yeah, he should have serious hype considering offensive production isn’t even his strongest trait.

He undoubtedly played his best game in the national team yesterday. Here are some of his highlights:

That pinch at 1min16s was rewarded but IMO it was a dumb play (the other team had possession), 3 on 1 going the other way if he misses to intercept that pass.

And I'm not a fan of those weak shots from the point (0m35s), nothing there.

I like him for his mobility and his IQ, the floor is a 2nd pair D which is great. Can't miss pick.

I would however gamble more with the upside of Jiricek if I had to pick the first D of that draft. He has more physicality, a better shot and is still quite mobile, even if less gracious with his stride. I see a Seider kind of upside with Jiricek... More a Leddy kind of player in Nemec? Maybe he'll turn out to be a Karlsson and the Jiricek pick will turn out to be the wrong one.

Both of these players will play in the NHL.

I think Nemec is a smart enough player that he's just adapting to his competition. He'll change tactics when he moves up to better leagues and better opponents. I do question how much offense he'll have at the NHL level though, it is hard to tell.

I can see him becoming a top pair D that handles hard defensive matchups and drives play at 5v5, but isn't a big scorer. Maybe he'll become a Leddy type but I think he could have better defense than that.

if you play the 1min16s situation again, how could this turn out into 3v1? There are literally 3 other slovak players. I think Nemec knew that and evaluated the situation right, took a risk and it almost paid off. Far from dumb

I agree, the mutual matches are clear in the Champions League, as well as in the preparatory matches, when often the Czech teams from the second highest league beat the teams from the Slovak extra league.

I predict 5-6 points for him this tournament. Should be the QB on the second PP unit if Fehy and Cernak do not join (not sure if their is open roster spots).
I am most interested to see how he does against Canada. Last year he struggled in the QF matchup vs USA and their NHLers, albeit he’s a much better player now and a year older.
