He is not a pure winger, he likes to play center.
Never seen him play in this position currently. At low level like all the others, I think he can but I hardly see him playing center in the NHL either on an offensive or defensive line.

I think the NHL franchises only value him as a winger.

This is my opinion of this player. I will prefer him more Snuggerud, Gaucher or Bystedt as a defensive center. And Mesar doesn't have the talent to be seen as a likely top 6 center.

He has a very common profile for the NHL. I see NHL teams prefer players who specialize in a very specific area, more focused on defensive play in particular.

He is too "standard" and not dominant enough as a standard player to be selected in the first round.

He seems to me like a complementary winger on an attacking line alongside a dominant center and another very physical winger.

There are still 2 lists that evaluate him 2nd round (15th European skater = 2nd round).

Pure wingers tend to slip.
It seems to me that this year 15th European skater is right around the tail end of the first round. Looking at most lists they have Euro and NA players roughly 1:1 in the top 32.

In my ranking, the 15th European skater is 33rd. So you're almost right.

I ranked Mesar 41st and 20th European skater for my part.

We'll see. It will in any case be very random since the order varies according to the choices of the teams. Let's say that he is not one of the players certain to be in the 1st round but that he has his chances.

He’s played C multiple times for Poprad this season…

I do not disagree. But the level of the Slovak league is low. Half of the players who play center in the minor leagues play on the wing. Even a guy like Savoie, I'm absolutely not sure he'll play center in the NHL. Mesar is primarily a winger and will most likely be seen as a pure winger for the NHL. I could be wrong but that's how I see it. The franchise that selects him will see a winger, not a winger who can play center in the NHL.

Made a great defensive play at the line, than scores on the breakaway rebound. 3 goals in 7.5 playoff games now. Also finished the game with 8 shots on goal. Most on the team

This is the one thing I dislike about this site. The thread is supposed to be about Nemec but again someone decides to change it into a thread about someone else who I really care nothing about.

you don't have to read all the posts.

Most of the posters are Slovak partisans.

The Nemec case is no longer debated. Top 5 for sure.

Most Slovak supporters have more questions about the assessment of the level of other Slovak players (Mesar, Sykora, Petrovsky). Mesar jumped into the conversation off-the-cuff but since then the topic has been refocused on Nemec's endgame performance.

Topics cannot be strictly compartmentalised. Transversal subjects develop spontaneously.

I find it's best to shift the dialogue back to where I want it. Maybe ask a focused question or do a bit a research and analysis and share the results. If instead I just filed a complaint with the department of everyone then I can't really expect to get what I want.

So getting back to Nemec... is the Slovak league next season the best spot for him? Or NHL, or AHL? To me the AHL seems like the perfect spot for him next season.

I think a move to the SHL or AHL is the best for him. I'd say the game is played with a bit more pace and more physicality in Sweden compared to Liiga, so if staying over seas I'd assume that's the best place?

Bringing him over and getting him acclimated to North America and the game/ice here would also be a great step in the right direction. But still I think SHL would be great to let him round out his technical skills on the wide ice and the physicality, to me, is a cut above Liiga and not quite at the AHL level. He's definitely going to be too good for Slovakia next year so I personally think Sweden/AHL looks like the most feasible options for him at this point. Depends on who grabs him I guess and what their depth in the minors is like.

Great shot.

Eliteprospects says his contract runs through 2024-25 with Nitra. Could he even play in the SHL? Wouldn't Nitra have to approve such a move? And why would they?

I’m not sure how the financial composition works, but Nitra will likely let him go where he wants. I am guessing he is in AHL next year, but also depends on who drafts him. Peterka and Reichel went from DEL to AHL and have had good success

Like Antiillafire said, European teams usually cooperate with the players to find the best situation for them, less of "oh but you signed the contract so I own your soul now" attitude here.

If you are Nitra, you would have just developed the highest NHL drafted Slovak D ever. Financially, that has to be a big deal for them when it comes to ticket sales, advertisement revenue, etc. I can't imagine they would allow him to play somewhere else in Europe next season when he's under contract with them.

My understanding is that once he signs his ELC, his NHL team determines whether it's NHL, AHL or Nitra. Moritz Seider would be a direct comparable as he did play in the AHL at age 18. The difference though is Seider is a huge dude who could survive the rigors of the much more physical AHL as a kid. Nemec is probably 6'1'' at most. And Seider still probably needed the age 19 superb season in the SHL to become the player he is (we'll never know how he would have done as a 19 year old in the NHL though).

If the Habs are lucky enough to draft Nemec, I would want them to keep him in Europe for 2022-23. And then AHL for 2023-24.

I mean Nemec is about the same size as McAvoy and he handled the NHL perfectly fine.

McAvoy was around 8 months shy of turning 20 when he debuted in the 2017 playoffs.

I see Nemec had 2 assists in a U18 qualifying game on Tuesday vs Norway, so even though it was against kids, his hot streak continues.
