I mean Nemec is about the same size as McAvoy and he handled the NHL perfectly fine.

- It's not just about size, it's strength. Nemec doesn't have the strength yet.

- McAvoy is listed at 207 lbs at EP, and by the eye he is an absolute unit. Nemec is built more like Heiskanen. At this point he is a weaker teenage version of that body type.

Comparing a player by weight and height is irrelevant. Two individuals who are 6-0 185ibs do not necessarily have the same athletic qualities. I don't really like player comparisons. Each player is unique. Nemec is a player I see reaching 87 on an NHL game. I can hardly see him not reaching 84. Personally, this kind of thing speaks to me more.

These final stages confirm that Nemec will be too strong for the Slovak championship next year and that he is clearly better than Brandt Clarke last year.

Can't wait to see him at the Senior World Championship.

McAvoy was around 8 months shy of turning 20 when he debuted in the 2017 playoffs.

I see Nemec had 2 assists in a U18 qualifying game on Tuesday vs Norway, so even though it was against kids, his hot streak continues.
He picked up two assists, but didn’t have his best game. May not have been focused on the game properly, since his team is in the middle of their semifinals series and he was just brought for one game at the U18 tournament.

It s silly that you can even do this by the way.

Nemec got an assist on the goal that ended up being the decisive goal sending Nitra to the finals. Both of the 2 teams that he could face are very good defensively (slovan especially), so he will need to drive offense from the back end even more
He equaled Marian Hossa's record for the most playoff points by a junior player in the top Slovak league and will likely beat it in the finals.

I'm wondering regularly at the comments about his shot being insufficient. Yet I see him lay pucks on net and around the net - he gets things through. Have we not learned that the ability to simply pound a puck through NHL defenders is not what it once was?

Seems like there is still a lot of room for growth as he gets stronger and grows into maturity. I still think he's a Numminen type defender with his ability to move and pass. I'm consistently struck by how he makes the right plays in his own zone when I'm able to look in on Nitra's games.

he's a way better skater. so much so that he ends up playing a much different game than either imo

Yup, the main thing is getting shots through. That's all about the release, and the IQ.

Whoever needs the best right shooting d-man available in the draft should take this guy without hesitation ! I suspect he's going to be really good sooner than later !! :wg:
