It’s a shame Lubo struggled with injuries. He was so good when healthy. Almost a ppg scorer at a few instances in his NHL career. If Nemec could have his type of career (minus the injuries) that would be amazing

I loved watching Lubo on the Island. Such a great player, it's a shame about the injuries.

Listen, that's how it is. You just have to look at the average age of NHL players, the average age of players who win individual trophies, the average age of Olympic teams (when the best are playing). Around 27. Afterwards, if you want to convince yourself that the peak is at 23, do it. But you'll be the only one to think so.

Assuming that Montreal will select (most probably) in 3rd, it takes 3 centers in the top 3 of the list (Wright, Savoie, Cooley). Montreal needs a center. Even if it won't be a star, it just takes a good center that can live with Suzuki. It's about fixing the Kotkaniemi failure. Montreal also needs a right-handed defender but a Round 1 has already been invested for this position and there is depth in this position this year.

Not to derail the thread, but that's exactly what the Habs shouldn't do. They go by position and they make mistakes, this time they have to absolutely take BPA.

The position draft is a problem if a player is selected much higher than his value as was the case with Kotkaniemi or Mailloux.

In this case, the players are equal. Nemec is not much better than the three players mentioned.

Taking Nemec to the detriment of these players makes no sense for a team like Montreal

BPA means nothing. There are several levels of value and very often there is a bunch of players with an equivalent level.

Wright-Nemec. Same level of value. You have to look at the profile of the player that suits you best and observe which one has a bigger difference in value compared to the players of the same profile that you can have with the next choice.

A top 6 center, unless there is a theft, there will be no more in the 2nd round. Top 4 right-handed defenders, there will be.

That's fair, if you say they are of equal value then yeah I'd also favour the Centre/Dman over wingers and a goalie. It's just harder to project defensemen than centres though, making it harder to gauge their true value.

Would be a good player for the Devil's to get. Have to see how the year shakes out but we need RD in the future and this guy looks like a solid prospect.

I don't he goes first overall, but I can totally see him rising up to something as high as 2nd overall. But I would still go with Shane Wright.

Nah, science and history is on my side kiddo.
