Pre-selected for the Olympics as expected.
The eligible player who will shine at the Olympics will score a lot of points. Slovakia seems determined to showcase its two best prospects.

Wouldn’t that be a bit of a disappointment if he only became Noah Dobson, especially if a team takes him in the top 10?
Trust me Dobson plays a lot better than his stats show. He's been having to carry Chara on his back this season so his stats haven't been much better

Another assist today and +2, and a team high 23 mins of ice time.
9 pts in his last 7 games and has probably been the leagues best dman over that stretch
Curious, did you watch Brandt Clarke last year in Slovakia? I wonder how they compare by the eye test

Yes I watched a lot of Clarke. He had a very good season and I thought he should’ve been a top 5 pick. As for how they compare, they are stylistically different players. Clarke is more of an offensive risk taker. Nemec has the better PPG but Clarke had to deal with adjustments of playing overseas. Nemec is better defensively. Clarke jumps up in the play lots but would also get caught defensively. I remember he got burnt several times by Chromiak when they played each other.

Thanks! Always great to hear insight from those who can watch the players, very helpful

I personally think this is a weak draft, and if you can draft a 'Dobson' in the top 10 you've done very very well.

It's a compliment, the guy has been an NHL ready defender since his D+1 year and is now exploding in his D+3 year into a true top 4 D.

Dobson just turned 22 this month, and has been playing 20-23 mins a night, at a 0.5 point/game pace on a bad team this year. Thats great development, and would be a nice path for Nemec.

We can't expect every top-10 pick defenseman to impact as fast as Makar, Hughes, etc, etc.

also from what @Antiillafire is saying, a lot of it is close to what Dobson is currently doing on the isles. I also could see the Miro Heiskanen also is a very good comparison given how he's a reliable defenseman

Shifts of Simon Nemec:

I can already see why someone called him Noah Dobson, but he has a lot of confidence with the puck and really likes moving up into the play. That one play where he moved up to get a clean shot at the goalie at around 2-3 minutes was really good, and then he hustles all the way back to pressure the counter attack into shooting at an awkward angle. Surprised he hasn't scored a goal though since he's shooting a lot

2018 was a strong draft class, plus Dobson isn’t done developing.

He’s basically been a full time NHLer since his D+1 season, which is great value for a defensemen.

he's passing Jiricek with this pace of production. Sheesh this dude broke Lubo's record in Slovakia, that's really nice
It’s a shame Lubo struggled with injuries. He was so good when healthy. Almost a ppg scorer at a few instances in his NHL career. If Nemec could have his type of career (minus the injuries) that would be amazing

eh technically the average NHL player peaks at 23
Where do you get that number? I'd be incline to look at the midean more then the average since the very elite talent players that play at 18 probably skewe the number up.
From the eye test it seems like forward do peak around 23-25 while defenders and goaler are more in the 25-28 range.
