Imagine he pans out, joins the Red Wings next year at the same time as Shane Wright, with Moritz Seider already having a season under his belt.
Wright would be sweet, But it's 100% not happening. Detroit will finish anywhere in the 7th to 10th overall range and with Detroit's luck they're not going to be a lottery team let alone getting the #1 overall pick. Conor Geekie should be in the 7th to 10th range he's the best we can hope for. Supposedly the next Kirby Dach.

He has some Dahlin flashes in him.

Ken Kal said that he talked to Jim Nill and said that the Stars had him #1 on their list
While it is extremely high praise, I would take it with a grain of salt. The Stars were drafting nowhere near first and didn’t have nearly as much on the line as any of the teams drafting in the top 6.

I have a very sick feeling that he will be a far better Dman than Luke Hughes will be. Sucks as I am a Devils fan .Its weird to have heard about possible hockey IQ issues with Edvinsson pre-draft yet I have never seen why that was even brought up? Some scouts saiid his U18 tournament wasn’t great but??
So far he is looks very good.

Looks like he's already too good for the SHL
Based on him looking ok in a top pairing role for two games? That's certainly a hot take. He's by no means been dominant or even looking like one of the best players on the ice for these two games. He's been good in a major role which is pretty damn exceptional based on his age but let's not go crazy here. He's got lots of stuff to learn that's for sure.

It's early, but he's absolutely been one of Frölunda's best players through preseason, CHL and these two SHL games.
However I do not agree he's too good for SHL, he's got lots of stuff to get better at and this is the perfect development situation for him.

Edvinsson played little last year, right?
What made him start to put it all together? I guess many teams (Detroit included) saw it coming.

Concerning Luke Hughes, he's also an awesome prospect. I like Edvinsson more and liked him more pre-draft mostly because I think Edvinsson's floor is higher while his ceiling is similar, but at this time, I don't think there's any reason to despair as a Devils fan. They're prospects of the same caliber.

For Edvinsson IQ issues it comes down to two things I think. For one, he often carries the puck into dangerous situations and can try to force a tough pass that gets picked off. There's a scouching video where he cherry picked a bunch of turnovers by Edvinsson so for people that use him as a primary source, they jumped to the conclusion that he turns it over a lot more than he does. Personally, I see these mistakes as more of a consequence of having the puck a lot and trying too hard to create offense when there is some, but I've been very high on Edvinsson for most of last season.

Secondly, stat watchers sometimes come to this conclusion because Edvinsson seems to have every tool to defend well and produce well, but his stats aren't amazing. Often for people that have nothing else to go on, IQ problems are the first guess for a prospect that has great physical tools but not the counting stats to go with them.

Saw what coming? Has he really changed much since the end of last season except for growing taller? He's a stalwart defensively and just needed coaches to play/trust him more but he's young so Swedish coaches act like Swedish coaches.

I mean, what is location, really
Dahlin is much more skilled than Edvinsson. Not sure I see much in the way of similarities there.
I think Edvinsson projects as the better shutdown player (being 6'6 helps), but yeah. Dahlin is incredibly skilled. Like, literally, I'm not sure you can get more purely skilled as a defenseman. Hopefully Dahlin puts it on display a little more this year.
