Which ones? Specifically
Like in 15 years?? I’d say maybe top 20.

Hedman
Carlson
Slavin
Josi
Jones
Reilly
Hamilton
Pietroangelo
Doughty
Letang....

McAvoy
Makar
Hughes
Dahlin
Hieskanen
Byram
Drysdale
Werenski
Theodore

I like him more than Byram
Werenski??
Letang will be like 40
Doughty, Petro, Josi Carlson on the tail end of their career.
Hamilton?? Are you kidding me?
Rielly doesn't know D

This is a bad list

Thanks for pulling one name out. Lol.
I was going to go in depth on each name but it just felt pointless since there's no rhyme or reason to why you included them.

Certainly doubt that Hamilton, Letang, Slavin, Reilly and Hughes make up the top 5D in the league for much of the next decade.

Which ones? Specifically
Sure. I am confident that he will be better than the following:
Carlson
Slavin
Jones
Reilly
Hamilton
Letang
Hughes
Dahlin
Heiskanen
Byram
Drysdale
Werenski
Theodore

At his peak, I believe he will be on the level of current Victor Hedman with a worse shot and more physicality.

by better i mean he will have a bigger impact on the game - these players may be better at one thing or another (probably offense, namely), but he will be a more valuable 2way force than all of them.
Again, if I’m wrong, quote me. If you haven’t regularly watched him in the SHL you have no idea how good he is. He has absolutely dominated every minute he’s out there to a level I have never seen any defenseman do in that league. He’s going to shock people within a few years.

not sure if that was supposed to be A “gotcha” post, lol. I’m not kidding when I say I think he will be one of the top 5 defenseman in the league for almost his entire career. Maybe I’ll be wrong. But I don’t think so.

Not a gotcha at all. I was truly curious... some real head scratchers on your list but I wish him all the best.

I like Seider a lot, probably my favorite Wings prospect in years.

But I'm definitely not confident that he will be "clearly" better than players like Heiskanen or Theodore who are in their early twenties and putting up at least .5ppg in the NHL and playing really good defense.

Heiskanen is about a year and a half older and was just a major part of a Western Conference Champion team in Dallas. Ultimately that's more impressive to me than Seider smashing jobbers in the SHL.

I don't think Seider will outproduce a lot of those guys in terms of points, so you have to believe he's a pretty transcendent defensive talent to say he's going to be clearly better than those players. Guys like Heiskanen and Theodore are good defensively.

I think Seider projects pretty well as a top pairing guy, with a very legitimate chance to be a #1D. Hell, maybe even a guy in the Norris conversation during his prime. But it's ok to admit that your prospects aren't the best at everything all the time, and Seider has played zero NHL games and he doesn't possess elite scoring tools. I'm definitely not going to sit here and say he projects to be clearly better than a player like Heiskanen or Theodore ~5 years from now.

Not saying it’s an objective truth. I’m just sharing how I feel about him.

Gotta hope Mo is the real deal, not sure what he will have around him. Larkin, Bert and Zadina have regressed or been hurt. Mantha is gone. Not many parts in place. Stevie Y has a lot of draft choices but those take time even if you hit on a generous pct of them. Yes, there are some solid prospects in the pipeline but not much is already in place.

were on the same exact page . ive never seen a hockey player the likes of seider . to be so smart , so rugged , such a coordinated skater , so good handed , such big bodied is truely amazing . but because he isnt an elite offensive force many arent grasping what a valuable hockey player he is

Aside from the prospects and a couple other names, that’s a pretty elite group of defenceman.

The ‘clearly better’ part is what I would take issue with. That’s going to be pretty hard to pull off.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he became a top-10 NHL defenceman, but to be clearly better than those guys, he’ll basically have to be the slam dunk best defenceman in the game.

I'm confused here. You're confident he will clearly be better/more valuable than Dahlin (lol) but yet you only think he will be a top 5 dman for most of his career... which one is it?

I wouldn't say "clearly better" than some of those names either, not in terms of their overall status.

Defensively and physically I feel confident in saying there's not a better D prospect in the world and I don't think most people understand how special he is when it comes to those areas of playing hockey.

Agreed. I think it’s been a while since a defensive prospect had this kind of reputation for strong defensive play.

He’s definitely got good offensive ability too. He’ll be a force for Detroit.

Yeah, perhaps “clearly better” is hyperbole. I guess what I mean is that I think he will have a solid and easily defensible argument for being better and more valuable than all those guys. “Clearly”, yeah maybe not. Don’t think he’ll be head and shoulders above all of them or anything.

as for dahlin, not sure what the confusion is. He currently sucks, real bad. If he turns it around and reaches the lofty heights he was supposed to, then no, Seider won’t be better. It’s not currently looking like that though.

Dahlin currently sucking is a pretty big reach. Feels like an overreaction to a bad +/- and a couple tough highlights.

I mean, watch him play. He puts up some good points but is constantly lost in the defensive zone. He’s definitely nowhere near a top 20 Dman right now.

Ooookkkaay. I see what you mean and I agree he's not a top 20 dman in the league rn. Big gap between top 20 and actively bad though.

To be fair it’s entirely possible Seider could step into a situation just as bad as Dahlin has been in and suddenly be just as “bad” because of it. I wouldn’t write off Dahlin.
