I doubt many GMs would be comfortable letting Seider slip past them in a re-draft. Right at this moment there's no one from the 2019 draft that I would want over Seider, but Hughes/Kakko/Dach I can see a case for still ranking ahead just based on their talent and potential.

This is an up-for-grabs kind of draft. Hughes and Kakko were almost a consensus top-2 at the time, but that's less apparent now.

In a redraft I think this is what my top 5 would be.

Dach
Seider
Hughes (still a lot of potential but is he going to be a true high end 1c or a Matt Duchesne?)
Zegras
Byram

I don’t think Turcotte or Kakko crack the top 5 in a redraft. I think Kakko develops into a goal scoring winger but I don’t think he’ll be a franchise cornerstone level winger.

Dach looked great in the play in and playoffs, and think he could be another 1c in the same vein as Toews.

Seider would already be Detroit’s best defenseman and looks more and more like the clear cut best defenseman in the draft.

Zegras looks to have the floor of a very good 2c. Great puck distribution skills and very creative.

Yeah as a wings fan, I'm not sure I'm trading Seider for any of those guys, especially with how dominant hes been in Sweden to start the year too. But in a redraft theyre for sure ahead right now with Seider starting to close the gap they had at draft time. Small guys can play now but it seems like in a playoff series, Seider could really impose his will on a guy like Hughes

you didn't have to mention this with what followed.

physically dominant along with being good skating and smart . hes an extremely rare player with an extremely high two way ceiling even though there shall be more offensively talented dmen .

The narrative that only Detroit fans see him as special completely breaks apart if you for example listen to how Rögle fans feel so far or what the experts and announcers on SHL broadcasts say about him.

One quote I found from a rögle fan (translated):

"Seider is Rögle's best d-man, the safety he has with the puck, how cool he is on the blueline, in his own zone, the passing, how he finds solutions, saves Gelinas' in the d-zone etc, it's pure class. A joy to see him in Rögle. Will be one of NHL's best d-men in the future. Comes in and dominates SHL as a 19 year old.".

Seider is a stud for sure!

Although, SHL-experts also said Helge Grans is better than Dahlin so... way to early for a re-draft imo lol.

All you need to do is watch this video and then understand he's only 18 years old and he's tossing grown men around like rag dolls. He's going to be a freak in his prime.

Like I said, I know he's a stud.. My response was more to the guys that said GMs will regret passing on him etc.. It's just way too early to say that. Seider also got the benefit of being pysichally mature already. Some guys takes years to reach their prime. For example, I don't think Tampa regrets picking Hedman at #2 just because he took a couple of years to become what he is today. With that said, I have watched him in SHL and he looks Great! Will be a Great D for Detroit.

Swedish "experts" are usually pretty clueless imo.. I like Staffan Kronwall though. Obviously he's got a bit of an inside track for Seider via Niklas too.

Was also interesting hearing Nik and Staffan talk about the state of swedish hockey, and how soft it has become.

Too early for a redraft but from what I have seen so far I would say Dach and Seider are the biggest risers.

Never seen a kid putting grown men on their ass this constantly with these reverse hits. Did the same in the AHL as an 18 year old.
5 points in 5 games so far in the SHL.

Dude’s a brick wall. What will we call his huge hits? Seidered doesn’t have the same ring to it that Kronwalled did.

Think he could go with the way of old Vladiator.

Seidernator.

Was there some incident today that he got skate on the face and nothing happened? Just continued to play?

Just a close call, no cut or anything from what I could see. But a scary incident.

Agreed. I’m not a Detroit or Chicago fan, but they’re personally my top 2 players from this draft, so far. It’s extremely early, but I view Hughes and Kakko as likely occasional all-stars, but not a franchise centre/winger. While I think there’s a better chance that Seider becomes a franchise D, and Dach a franchise C.
