That's the crazy thing, how people "over-believe" in Yzerman skills. Just without any facts from Tampa days, Wings (whining-department of) fans just believe, that the pick must be better when it's not Holland/Wright pick. :D

Exact opposite happens with Rasmussen.

But Seider lookes like a sure pick. Some lesson learned from Tampa days.

It's because there's a body of evidence of Yzerman improving a team over the last 9 years in Tampa Bay. During that same stretch there's a larger body of evidence of Holland either spinning his wheels or making the team worse through poor management choices.

He missed the boat with Brett Connolly thinking that the guy's injury problems were behind him in 2010. Namestnikov in 2011 wasn't a bad choice and has had a decent career thus far. 2012 was bad...yeah...no excuses for Slater Koekkoek(sp?). But Vasilevsky has been pretty damn good.

Even though he made the wrong choice with Drouin at 3rd overall in 2013 he was able to turn that failed pick into an impact player on a Stanley cup winner. In 2014 he gambled on DeAngelo who, despite off ice problems, is pretty good at hockey stuff on the ice.

No pick in 2015. Howden in 2016 wasn't a bad choice and will get better as a pro. Cal Foote in 2017 was hoping that the apple wouldn't fall far from the tree. Yzerman and company hated playing against Adam Foote which was motivation for the pick. Cal won't be as nasty as Adam but he'll probably be a good bottom pairing guy. 2018's pick along with extras turned into JT Miller and Ryan McDonough.

He's been very good drafting from the 2nd round back when compared to Holland and the hope is that he would bring that drafting/scouting acumen as well as skillful cap management to Detroit. Holland and Wright over that same period do not have as good a track record in comparison.

When a group that isn't willing to adapt or reinvent itself puts out the same results year after year you start to expect that they're going to shit the bed every time. Just read Killerjas's Evan Bouchard over Quinn Hughes quote for further proof.

Hype getting out of hand. If he ends up having half the offensive game that Blake had (60 point D in the DPE), you can consider yourself lucky. Pronger? Give me a break.

Comparing styles doesn't mean he's gonna do what Pronger did, it's just a base comparison to go by.

Damn looks like they got sick of being rag dolled legally and went for the hit from behind in return. That was dangerous, Seider could've went neck/head first into the boards if the guy wasn't such a weakling.

That's on Mo. You make a hit like that in the NHL, expect that someone's gonna come looking for you. I'm sure he learned a lesson there

That's on the punk ass who came at him from behind. Hockey is a contact sport. You give a hit, you take a hit, that's fine as long as it's clean. Hitting from behind is a chickenshit play at any level.

Oh, I agree with you 100%. The fact of the matter is that if you take a guy out like that, turn around, because someone might not like it. If it happens in the SHL, it'll certainly happen in the NHL. Not saying it's right, but he needs to take ownership over protecting himself.

You're right, if you make a nice, clean, hard hit in the NHL the new breed of NHLers will come after you.
I miss the guys who had the stones to just get up and take a number for next time.

I am not entirely sure, but it looks to me like the play had not been blown dead after Mo's hit, so I think he did the right thing trying to play on and get back on defense. If the whistle was blown, then I'd say he should have prepared himself for a response. But anyway it was a good hit and the retaliation, while to be expected, was a bit overboard for my taste. First off it was quite dangerous and then pushing Seider back down when he tried to get up was just unnecessary.

Sure, 100% like I said. But he'd better get used to it because it's probably not going away. Make hits like that? Get ready.

It’s been great to follow Moritz’s season here. Thank you to all who have been contributing. The clips have been very entertaining. This young man appears to influence the game from a defensive aspect, don’t really see this too often.

Really nice for Wings fans to have such a solid prospect coming along as they go through the pain of rebuilding.

This has become HFBoards official hit highlight page

Its actually wild. Every game he plays theres a highlight of a big hit.

When hes like 26 and filled out he might have Byfuglien type strength, espeically with guys getting smalle rnow in the leauge

That's kind of what I'm hoping for as well. I think I'm in the minority in not wanting Larkin as our captain. The kid seems like he's got good poise and leadership abilities. Plus he was captain of Germany at the WJC.

The kid is looking really good. Hard to find any fault in his play. He's a solid as it gets.

Yeah... guy is +3 when team loses 3-4.

Makes two great hits (with nice GIFs!) against people going their butts and scores 0+1. I don't know how defenceman can be any better. I mean DEFENCEman.

He has taken also the CorsiFor% lead now from guys with +10 games in SHL.

And that great Corsi comes from a thing that he is so damn hard to get any scoring chance against.

This is incredibly ambitious considering Mo has a lanky frame (He’s 19, but still) and Byfuglien pushes 260 when properly conditioned.

... And I note proper conditioning because he was probably 300+ during a couple offseasons.
