I love what I see, but is anyone else interested in whether he'll be willing to drop the gloves at least every now and then when he makes the NHL? If you're gonna play that way here, you'll get challenged.

He stated in an interview with griffins media last year that he knew a fight was coming any game now and he was excited.

There are lots of guys who play rough and don't need to actually fight. Some rough stuff after the whistle? Sure. But fights are rarer and rarer.

That's all true. You don't have to fight these days, and it won't make him less of a player in my eyes if he doesn't. The game has certainly changed in that regard with CTE damage, and I support that. I'm just wondering if he'll want to. He certainly seems mean enough. I know he's said he can't wait to get in a fight, but I'm interested to see what'll actually happen when he does get challenged.

He's such a throwback, the kid just lives to hurt people.
Plus he has the modern skill in his game too. I feel almost as excited as Wings fans about this kid.

Lol modern skill? As if guys from the 80s and 90s weren't skilled. Kids today spend all their time on their phones. Kids back then would just play around developing their skills.

Wish more guys today had the skillsets of guys from back then.

Lol. For some reason that made me think of living in Germany in the early 80's while in the service, and that tune "Der Kommissar" by Falco was unavoidable. Might be a good nickname for the guy.

Don't turn around, uh oh
Ja, ja
Der Kommissar's in town, uh-oh
You're in his eye and you'll know why
The more you live, the faster you will die

Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?

This comment explicitly? No. But offensive potential was pretty heavily criticized for Mo. All you have to do is listen to Button ramble on during the draft selection.
Seider showed limited offensive potential at the time of the draft. People noted this. Seider then showed pretty good offense in the AHL and SHL, exceeding all expectations on draft night. People are now saying hes showing pretty good offensive potential.

So whats the problem? Why are people arguing against opinions on draft night which were based on what they knew at the time. Why are we not arguing about what people are currently saying about seider based on what hes shown since being drafted?

I guess i just dont see the point in arguing against old analysis based on old (pre-draft) data when we could be arguing against what people currently say about seider based on newer (post-draft) data

The Carlo comparison will go down as one of the all-time worst draft-day takes. Not to knock Carlo or anything, but Mo plays a much more complete game than he does as a teenager, and pretty much always had, aside from a transitional year in Mannheim.

Ehh. McGuire makes the claim he has offensive upside twice, and even Button himself says the Red Wings must think he has more offense than Carlo. Remember he got on a lot of radars after having 7 points in 5 games at the WJC.

Isn’t Mo closer to Makar than he is (as a comparable) to Carlo?

Just a brutal all around display by Button, calling him "seeder" and all. It's your livelihood to study and analyze the prospects, the least he could do is get the pronunciation right. If I knew the pronunciation at draft time it is absolutely embarrassing and inexcusable for Button to butcher the pronunciation.

Always been a pet peeve of mine when people mis-spell or mispronounce names, especially when they are paid to know this stuff.

edit: Then Pierre follows it up with "yeah, he's the first German player to go in the first round"..like wtf..Draisaitl, Bokk, Sturm, Goc...

Sportsnet's draft coverage was a lot better than NBC's, as it always is

They obviously addressed that no one expected him to be drafted that high, but Marek and DeBrusk had nothing but good things to say him. Brian Burke's input was unnecessary, but it's not as bad as Button's.
