That's what we want for Savard
You need to ease up there big fella!

I understand you are passionate, but you are not Hughes’s representative, nor the captain or anointed public speaker for the fan base.

I feel like you need a disclaimer at the bottom of your posts: These views are strictly my own and do mot represent the Montreal Canadiens fan base.

If Tampa are willing to put their 2026 1st on the table for Savard @ 50% I would JUMP on that. Rumors are that they looking for a RHD as well.

Do your things, Hughes

Doubtful Savard gets traded he has publicly stated he doesn't want to be traded and management haven't given any sign they want to trade him

We heard the same nonsense when it was time to deal Chiarot, Lakhonen, Monahan, Kulak, Toffoli....etc

Just so you know, I was among those who were confident in all of Chiarot, Lehkonen, Monahan, and Toffoli returning a 1st round pick.

And I'm not confident in Savard returning a 1st. I think its a possibility, but the circumstances must be right (for example: Savard must be at least among the best defensemen available at the tdl), and it doesn't seem like that will be the case this year with names like Hanafin, Chychrun, Dumba, etc. reportedly available.

Also Savard is 33 years old now, and all the players you mentioned were 30 or under when traded.

If Savard can't return a 1st (or equivalent prospect), then a 2nd + 3rd is basically the next best thing.

Who would you rather trade for Tanev or Savard?

I haven't watched enough Tanev to know how good he's been playing.
The flames are asking a 1st for Tanev, but they haven't received that offer yet. It remains to be seen if a team will offer them that. If Tanev returns a 1st, then Savard could as well.

Savard has 2 years control. Tanev is UFA. Seeking 4 year deal. So doubt teams like Toronto be signing him.

I disagree,

If they dont get a good price then they keep him to keep mentoring the young guys and try again next year. Either way there is no down side for The Habs

The guys you mentioned are better than Savard but they will be looking for big extensions and would cost vastly more to acquire than Savard. He also has something those guys dont have. A cup win.

Lol, a 2nd + 3rd is a good return for Savard
If it were with no retention (cap dump returning) but I doubt Hughes will move him for less than a 1st. Say Savard+ for a 1st if there is retention.
I am not saying that is his value but he doesn't have to be moved so that would be the price

Reinbacher has missed swiss league practices/meetings for work and high school. I hope he doesn’t want to go to university.

He can take classes at McGill over the summer.

Savard is playing too high in lineup in Mtl.

Problem is the Habs don't have a 1st pairing RHD.

Some Habs fans would say something really stupid like Ritchie or Byram because "Habs fans".

I guess anytime is the right time to take potshots at the Habs. Some people did want Ritchie but that was for Monahan, the guy who netted us a 1st.

Evans is a keeper for the Habs. Cost controlled type in the cap too... might get a raise on his next deal but nothing scary.

I could see him getting 2.25 per on his next contract but I wouldn't mind trading him. I personally don't like non-physical 3rd and 4th liners.

I'm personally still shocked at the return we got for Lekhs. I mean I liked the kid but getting the equivalent of a 1st(Barron) + for him? That's some serious trade voodoo.

this is no different then any other trade. Habs like Savard, he is a good dman nobody said great but a solid front clearing puck stopping dman that never takes a shift off. also a good contract. He has always been a solid dman in the playoffs. SO what is he worth? well Huges likes him to teach all the young dmen. I agree with some that say a 2nd round pick if Huges wanted to get rid of him but clearly that is NOT the case. K. H. would need an extra to trade so it's a low 1st or a high prospect, just enough to tempt K.H

There's really no point in trading Savard. He won't garner more than a 2nd round pick IMO and he has more value to the Habs development plans than a 2nd round pick.

1st rounder + prospect for David Savard is crazy. Even if he isn't an expiring. Its still crazy
Don't see a good prospect coming back maybe a with 50% retained and taking back bit of cap I'm sure a gm would pay a 1st at deadline with an average prospect possibly

Habs are listening on David Savard - David Pagnotta
"Theyre willing to do it"

Conversation was in relation to Edmonton's need. Ceci may have to come back the other way, which would increase the return.
