He skates and rushes the puck like subban , hes got the bomb too .

He plays safer than subban though when going for hits.

Love the pick, although I would have liked Teravainen.

Ceci is gonna be great for us in a few years.

So of course he goes to the team in the league that least needed a righty on the PP.

I think hed do pretty good on the left of karlsson .

Karlsson with the passing , ceci with the bomb

Cody didn't have to move his equipment very far...OTT to OTT.

67's arena under construction for the next two seasons, they moved into scotiabank place.

Ceci's only question for next season is which dressing room to show up to.

Believe the 67's have an agreement to share the sens training facility too, so good chance he'll be working with the sens guys this summer.

It was very common this year though for Ceci to switch to the opposite side on the PP, so that is not a huge issue.

He also is pretty adept at all situations. I think he should make a solid PK guy in the NHL because he does not over commit on D too often.

I believe in three years Ottawa is going to be very happy with this pick. I expect his chances to make the team next year are 25-75. I've actually compared him to Kuba at times, who we are losing, but he's not an ideal replacement at the moment. I still think now he is better than any AHLer we have.

Agreed on all accounts. I've used the Kuba comparison myself too. To me I really like the less physical Seabrook comparison.

I was actually hoping the Sens would pick Olli Maatta, but I can't say I was disappointed to hear them call Ceci, great pick. He could very well pan out to be Kuba+... albeit down the road from now.

Does Brian Kilrea usually pump his players? I don't recall him doing anything like this:

Brian Kilrea on #Sens pick Cody Ceci: "He'll be one of the top defencemen in the NHL... If you like Drew Doughty, you're gonna love Ceci."

I'm so glad they picked Ceci over Maatta. Ceci is a better offensive threat than Maatta because of his shot, and looks to be as good defensively as Maatta.

Sens assistant Gm Tim Murray admitted we had Ceci ranked in our top 5!!!

Well that's along the lines of what most GM's said about their picks, but I like what I'm hearing about him. Haven't seen much of him though.

He's much better live than on TV, you can see all the little things he does so well, and all the little things he does not do.

He is much better defensively than given credit for, and his skating is a strong point.

He really needs to engage more defensively, which accounts for his lack of physical play. He seems more worried about covering the whole ice than his spot, leading him to not play physically, either hitting, tying guys up, etc. Part of that was due to a weak D core he played with this year (outside of the top 4, top 3 in the playoffs), but he still has to get into that mindset.

For the record according to our on air guys with teh Sens, the Flames were going to take Ceci before they traded back!

Can't say it's typical of him. Without even considering the quotes I've heard from Kilrea regarding Ceci, I'd tell you Brian Kilrea's words on talent evaluation should be treated like gold though. The 67s have sent more players to the NHL than any other junior franchise (save for maybe Regina?) and it's had a ton to do with Brian Kilrea the scout.

They've got a very similar body type and play a similar style. I don't think anyone's really projecting a #1 D here in Ceci, let alone a franchise guy....but there is a comparison to be made between the two to some extent. Doughty's got a deeper and higher end skill set no doubt....but Ceci may do some of the same things.

I was guessing we had Ceci in our 6-8...just felt top 5 wasn't realistic enough to post. Our insider here has raved about Ceci since day 1 this season and pretty much berated any franchise as suckers in the draft if they don't see it themselves.

Somehow I trust Ottawa's draft team and one of the best talent evaluators in junior hockey in Brian Kilrea more than the teams that passed on them at the top of the draft who are only drafting there because most of them have trouble drafting.

If he only he would start hitting more.

He'd be a bogosian clone than.
