Kind of sucks for him doing another season in NCAA development wise, but i completely understand why he is doing it.

Being a UFA at 22 years old and pick and choose where you want to go and what is best for you would be pretty damn cool

Everything points to him being a Rangers player I feel.

That said, if he is open to the market. Would love to see Toronto make a good pitch to him.
Cost controlled RHD with his potential could walk right into a contending team. That's a good situation for a 22yr old kid coming out of college.

I’d be kind of surprised if he didn’t go to the Rangers at this point. He loves the Rangers and the team is rebuilding. They can afford to give him a lot of minutes and have him grow with the team.

I doubt he’d want to go to a contender right away. No guarantee he’d see significant NHL minutes.

Going UFA was the only logical move. Sucks for Cane, but it wasn't a surprise.

Yeah he's going to be able to pick his team and start in the NHL in two years (baring a disastrous camp). That's worth a lot more than the opportunity to start his ELC a year early with Carolina next year (which isn't even certain).

How is this kids attitude? Honestly i know zero about him but whenever i see situations like this happen it always leaves a sour taste in my mouth unfortunately... And by no means i am suggesting he has a bad attitude, i am completely curious

But on the flipside, good on him telling teams he has no interest in signing with them.

Good on him. He leveraged his skills and success to get the job he wanted.

solid against-men per 60 numbers on this guy.

will be interesting to see what his against-men-over-23 per 60 numbers turn out

Wow, great call.

This is also a good trade for the Rangers. We've sucked drafting in the second and third round. The only quality players we've drafted in those rounds with the current scouting regime is Stepan and Buchnevich. Its very unlikely the two 2nd's or 2nd and 3rd would yield a player better than Fox. The Rangers have plenty of defensive depth. We need difference makers on the back end. If Fox can be a top 4 defensemen, its a big win for the team. I think he has 2D potential. I've compared him to Shattenkirk with better defense.
