Had a secondary assist on JVR’s goal. Was very steady today, no mistakes (aside from the penalty he took) and was good defensively. I don’t know if anyone else caught it but him dangling the German forechecker was a nice move to get around. Can’t find a video of that though

Why does every UFA defector go to the Rangers?

New York is a hell of a place to be if money is no concern. Unless you want a family place and suburbia life style which most of the UFA prospects don't care to have at the time.

Cost of living in NYC might be the worst in the league and it's not like you get offsetting by tons of endorsements

NYR also goes length to threat the players with respect. Many orgs have a different approach.

For a period of time, the Rangers were a great place to go for a young College UFA because they traded away so many first rounders, chances are if you signed with them you would be their best prospect who they would concentrate on more then if you signed with a team that you might be there 3rd or 4th best prospect

But thats what I mean about "if money isn't a concern" I mean hes making pro money afterall, which is more than enough to be in NY and that is a fine place to be as I mentioned.

Westchester County and Fairfield County provides the suburban lifestyle for those interested.

Yeah but when looking at suburban lifestyles then a whole bunch of other cities are just as good. I was just remarking on what I believe most ufa young players would want to be in NY.

And he had freaking 17 points over the second best on his team while being a D man. Incredible. I can’t wait to see how he perform on the big stage. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up like Leetch.

Because they went head to head when Harvard played UMass in March, and Makar was all over the ice, while Fox was completely invisible.

I was sold on Fox when I saw him live in Buffalo during the World Juniors a couple of years ago. I watched all his games and he was one of the best players on the ice for not only the USA, but both teams. Granted, he was older than Dahlin at the time, but he out-performed him quite a bit. Fox and Makar were the best D in that tournament, followed by Dahlin.

As a Flyers fan it pains me to say this, but Fox is going to be a pure stud in the NHL. I think he ends up as good as prime Kevin Shattenkirk, if not a little better. His offensive ceiling is 60-65 points, and he can be one of the best PP QB's in the league some day. He's also pretty decent in his own end, very composed and poised.

Since when do you win a trophy based on a sample size of one game?

Well obviously it wasn't JUST that game, but it was an opportunity for either guy to stand out. Fox had more points, but Makar had almost twice as many goals. Both guys are good players, I think we can just agree on that.

Is he likely to play all season in the NHL?
Yes.

Looked great at Worlds, his only flaws at Traverse were passing on his off hand to Rykov(who was also on his off hand.)

DeAngelo is still unsigned, depth chart on the right absent him is:
Trouba
Fox
Smith(off hand)
Keane
Day(off hand)
Raddysh
