I can't believe I've never seen this thread, it's great.

Not exactly a Rob Ray phrase, but there was a game not too long ago where Marcus Foligno tipped one in that was nearly at his face. It was waved off immediately but they still reviewed it, and it was clear as day from every angle he had his stick way up. But Rob just refused to buy the idea there was any conclusive evidence and there was still a chance it could be a good goal. I can't stand getting another team's feed where the commentators have nothing to positives for their team, and basically don't talk about the other team. Rob is so, so, so bad for this.

When he's on OTR with Lyndon Byers, it's fantastic. Then he gets between the benches and tosses his blue and gold glasses on and it's unbearable. It's so weird having an absolute legend do the play-by-play, then Rayzor stinking up the colour commentary.

"Grigorenko on the embellishment" (it was Girgensons)

Ray gets off on nit picking everything Grigorenko does. 1 minute he's saying Grigorenko and Flynn are 10 for 10 on faceoff's on a ****** faceoff team. Grigs misses his first faceoff then gets called out for not winning the faceoff when he should.

I've got a lot of respect for Rob Ray as a player and a person but boy I hope they "promote" him to desk commentary soon

40 ****ing games, and this ******* still doesn't know Josh Gorges actual name.

It's embarrassing. He needs to go.

To be fair the coach still doesn't know how to pronounce zemgus and he's known him for years.

I've wanted Ray gone for years. He's a freaking clown. Keeping him around in this role is a perfect example of society not caring about proper grammar. Think of how he sounds to someone who has no idea who he is. They'd think "Who is this guy who can't even talk properly?"

I disagree. I'm usually a bit of a grammar Nazi, but I like Ray. Yeah, he butchers plenty of names and sentences, but he has a good personality, doesn't step on RJ's toes, and adds some pretty good insight. Anyway, he's better than most of the color commentators I see around the league.

Anyway, Scott Upshaw.

by that same logic, (and remember this is hockey commentary we're talking about, not English 101) you would probably have gotten rid of, or never hired RJ if you were in charge...

it's cool if you don't like somebody, but you sound silly saying he's a clown. When in fact he's a tremendously giving and overall great person in our community. Also, he obviously has a bit of a speaking disability (and we all seem to get that here, joking about it half-heartedly) - which makes you seem like even more of a doucshe =\
