Wonders about hypocritical posts - gets called a child. Yeah that checks out. Internet 101
I stated my opinion. A few pages later I said that I can't prove my opinion to be a fact. At least I have the self awareness to recognize that my opinion isn't the only one and isn't the end all be all of hockey opinions. And again, you provide nothing to the conversation. Do you have an opinion?

There was a time when Shayne Gostisbehere was very good and had a ton of potential. That time has come and gone. Let's not call the "old boys club" idiots for some decisions but then pretend their opinion matters when they vote for someone we like in the Norris voting.

Show me Ristos Norris votes. Thats what I thought. Game, set, checkmate.

You've already made it wildly apparent that you dont believe that statistics can account for a player being better than another at a given position, even refuting an earlier post about statistics as unbelievable.. I'm not in the business of wasting my time, so we can both go our separate ways here.

Claims he can prove something that is unprovable. Gets challenged to prove it. Uses hyperbole (or poor reading comprehension) in his refusal to prove it. I do agree with you though. Trying to prove something that you can't prove would be a waste of your time.

LMAO using Gostisbehere's Norris votes to prove your argument is the equivalent of saying Hagg is better than Gostisbehere because he played while Ghost was a healthy scratch or received more ice time. By the way, the Norris is no longer about the best defenseman. It's about highlighting the defensemen with the most points.

You're the one that brought up the Norris.and Hagg doesn't have any Norris vites either so clearly we have another GSC (game, set, checkmate)

I'm looking forward to watching Risto as a Flyer and judging him that way. I'm hoping they give him the whole season to evaluate him before any contract offer. I don't like the price Fletcher paid to acquire him but I think he and Ellis are good additions to the D and will hopefully bring some balance/stability.

I truly don't think anyone who uses "defense" as a catch-all understands the first thing about "defense."

Ghost could be cycled upon; he'd lose some battles, sure. But his NZ aggressiveness, his stick check, and his IQ allowed him to compensate, at least when healthy. Not many defensemen in the NHL could read passing lanes like him and actually jump the lane like a defensive back. That takes a lot of mental processing. Don't construe this as me saying he's Spurgeon or Ellis.

Meanwhile, Ristolainen is in his element shoving guys in front or along the wall -- which has value! -- but he can play rigid or slow when it comes to multi-level or multi-directional reads. Then you may get the not pressuring or over-pressuring. He also is at his best when play is directly in front of him. Watching his gaps will be important because they've historically been poor. More NZ stops would go a long way.

It's subjective. Which is why either of us trying to change the other's mind is pointless. It's all based on opinion. I can't prove Ristolainen is better just like no one can prove Gostisbehere is better. But for a person to pretend their opinion is an undeniable fact is just stupid. So is referring to an opinion as a lie.
What subjective aspects of defense make Ristolainen better than Gostisbehere, in your opinion?
