Meh, Risto or Ghost, I'd rather upgrade with York.
Notice the young D-men Arizona has promoted have better metrics than all their veteran D-men.

Crazy stats, Risto has a much higher xGF/60 than Ghost 5x5 (SVA), and you can't claim he's playing with better forwards (ours suck just as much).

Ghost xGF/60: 2.24, xGA/60: 2.72, HDCA/60: 12.69, on-ice Sh% 10.08
Risto xGF/60: 2.67, xGA/60: 2.92, HDCA/60: 14.26, on ice Sh% 7.07

Neither is a D-man I want in my top 4.
Trade Risto at the TDL for what you can get and go with Provorov-Ellis, Sanheim - York next year.

I think it is fascinating that this reasoning of yours was completely and totally abandoned once it needed to be abandoned to defend Tortorella and Fletcher's wrong decisions.

I still don't think Ghost is a top 4 D-man on a decent team, I mean he's not even the best D-man on Arizona, the waiver wire pickup is out playing him. At 5x5 he's been a gross liability, is on a short-term PP hot streak due to unsustainable shooting %.

Risto, well, right now he's stinking out the joint, but we'll see, it's not like Sanheim is doing him any favors, he's been pretty bad as well.

I'm talking about York.
York is 21, either he shows he's too good for LHV or he needs to spend a year there.
I'm disappointed in York, but sometime young players start believing their press clippings and need a kick in the pants.

Right now Attard is more likely to get promoted, I think he's more talented physically, though he needs a lot of work on defensive fundamentals. He's off to the better start, but it's early.

I think there's a good chance Attard turns out to be the player they talked themselves into believing Risto would become.

Bullshit. You don't need to be "too good for the AHL" to be NHL ready, and you know this because every offseason you recognize the fact that he is NHL ready. And, the only way to learn how to play in the NHL is by playing in the NHL. Excess time in the AHL doesn't accomplish that. If anything you run the risk of creating habits that work at a lower level and need correcting.

You annually abandon everything you think the team should do just to defend them doing the wrong thing.

there isnt 1 team in the NHL interested in Risto

except this godam one.

theres a reason Risto came back with a paycut.. cuz his agents phone was dead silent...
Ben Chiarot got a 1st & a 4th for a mere deadline rental.

Then Yzerman signed him as a UFA for 4 years, $4.75M per.

You are really discounting the dearth of defensemen around the league. And the fact that teams do value size for defending against power forwards.

Plus Risto’s a RH shot, which have added value due to scarcity, like LHPs in baseball.

Well, given that any attempt to contact his agent while he was Flyers' property would be considered tampering, I hope his agent's phone was dead silent.

Chariot > Risto imo. Chariot when paired with a good D man actually was decent.

Big Buff and Weber.
